Apartment, one of which leads to the Magazine of medicinal Herbs, the
other to the Office of Accounts belonging to the House. There are also very
beautiful Halls finely vaulted, particularly two, which entirely correspond in
structure, one of which serves for a Laboratory, and the other for a Library,
wherein extraordinary Plants and Animals are likewise preserved. There
are several other Apartments, particularly that of the President or Doctor,
an other which belongs to the chief Apothecary and his Domesticls. The Doctor
has the Direction of the Accounts, and has Several Officers under him. All the
Physicians, Surgeons and Druggists, receive their Sallary in his Office. There
are eight Apothecaries employed, and five Boys under them with above forty
Workmen : And from hence the Drugs and Medicines are furnished for the
Army and Fleet. Doctor Areskine a Scotchman, chief Physician to the Czar, was
the first Director of this House, with a yearly Pension of one thousand five
hundred ducats.

минералогическихъ коллекцій и другихъ азіатскихъ ð?äêîñòåé Эрскина:
„Zu den merkwtirdigsten Erwerbungen in diesem und den folgenden Jahren
gehort die Sammlung von Mineralien, Muscheln und asiatischen Seltenheiten des
Archiaters Are skin, eine grosse Menge goldner Gefasse, die man in den
Grabern der Tatarn in Sibirien gefunden hatte, und deren Gewicht uber 74 Pfund
betrug".
Изъ словъ Моттле видно, что еще въ Ìîñêâ? у Эрскина была коллекція
ð?äêèõú растеній и животныхъ. Изъ словъ Дешизо видно, что Эрскинъ
составилъ гербарій ò?õú растеній, который растутъ âîçë? Москвы, и далъ
имъ названія. Изъ словъ Шторха видно, что коллекція Эрскина была весьма
разнообразна (минералы, раковины, археологическія коллекцій изъ Сибири и
Монголіи и т. д.) и представляла изъ себя äîñòîïðèì?÷àòåëüíîñòü.
Къ этимъ даннымъ ñë?äóåòú прибавить еще ñâ?ä?í³ÿ, сообщаемыя
Джономъ Перри 2), который служилъ въ Россіи и надзиралъ за работами по
соединенію Каспійскаго моря съ Чернымъ.
„Докторъ Лрескинъ (Areskin) очень искусный джентльменъ, главный
Царскій Врачъ и членъ Королевскаго Общества въ Англіи, — у котораго
Царь обыкновенно справляется о âñ?õú äîñòîïðèì?÷àòåëüíîñòÿõú природы..."
Наконецъ для характеристики Эрскина ñë?äóåòú указать, что онъ оставилъ
огромную библіотеку (4200 томовъ), которая, по его çàâ?ùàí³þ 3), должна
была быть продана, а вырученныя за нее и за коллекцій деньги должны
