and Marathon Series
Beneficiary:
George Bicycle Centre Sport Union
9012 Gyôr, Veres Péter u. 10.
Subsidy amount: 195 446 EUR
Aim of the project
To strengthen the cooperation between the civil cyclists associations of the region and to promote the so-called “Cyclistfriendly
Region” in the Austrian-Hungarian border area mainly among cyclist tourists. The project had three target groups:
civil associations, mountain bikers, potential cyclist and active tourists arriving in the region.
Content of the project
“Westpannon Cyclist Festival and Marathon Series” was
organised with the help of the cross-border cyclist civil
cooperation network. They provided the conditions (track,
event venues, board) of the events. Promotional tools
were manufactured, which were the advertisement tools
of the region’s promotional materials, here the cyclists as
media surfaces were also utilised. After the competitionand
festival series consisting of 4 national events, the
“inter-regional champion” titles were also awarded, which
evaluated the results achieved at the competitions on
the Austrian side. The Hungarian and Austrian partners
through their member associations delegated activists
for the operative organisation of the events and they
participated in their evaluation. They provided support in
the marketing communication side by involving the media
platform of their monthly issued newsletters.
Results of the project
The event played an important role in the development of
the cross-border tourism, increasing the appeal of cyclist
tourism in the region. At the same time, the cross-border
relations between the cyclist civil associations were
enhanced. The most significant result of the event series
was that one of its rounds became a part of the Hungarian
Cup as well.
