In harmony with nature: Pannonhát Landpark
Beneficiary:
Nagykanizsa Small Region Multipurpose Union
8800 Nagykanizsa, Petôfi u. 5.
Subsidy amount: 252 000 EUR
Aim of the project
Nature tourist rehabilitation of the Nagykanizsa small region through the creation of a tourism land park; to renew,
maintain the tourist routes, to establish the system of information boards, resting places, to upgrade-create rain shelters,
and to establish the conceptual and planning-level base for later developments by adopting development results over
achieved by the Austrian partner in the field of nature tourism, and to utilize the relevant experiences.
Content of the project
An overall survey and data collection was done on the
tourist position of the Nagykanizsa region, it was aimed
at collecting, systematising, and assessing all tourism-relevant
data and information on the settlements of the region
(natural, cultural and architectural conditions, local attractions,
curiosities, events, legends, etc.), which have a value from
tourist point of view, and contribute to shape the regional
image. The tenderer considered it important to formulate
a unique regional appearance (logo, slogan, imagery
appearance), to produce the image codex, so that the
settlements of the region can appear with this unique
image more effectively on the tourist market.
An information homepage was designed with this image in
Hungarian and German. A bilingual publication wishing to
present the region, map, the posters reflecting the image,
and the marking of the information boards were produced
based on the image codex. The nature tourist rehabilitation
of the small region was accomplished with the creation
of a tourist land park with unique image, which included
among others the renovation of tourist routes (re-painting
of tourist markings, maintenance, cleaning of roads, clearing
of bushes), formation, marking of new tour routes, cleaning
of stopped springs, creation of information board system,
resting places, setting of rain shelters, fire places, waste
collection bins, benches, tables. 3 micro-regional workshops
were held, attended by the relevant target groups of the
project (decision makers, specialists and entrepreneurs
dealing with tourism) and they jointly developed the
different micro-regional tourist development ideas with
special coordination. For the purpose of mutual exchange
of experience the Hungarian experts visited Austria, while
Austrians came to Nagykanizsa and neighbourhood with
a study tour. The tenderer summarised the results of the
fact finding, the study tours and the micro-regional
workshops in a special study. The younger age group was
also included in the project: a camp for kids was organised
for 10 Austrian and 10 Hungarian kids to paint the tourist
signs in the land park.
Results of the project
The results of exploring and analysing activity done with
the wide involvement of the target groups, and completed
with the experiences of the Austrian partner organisation
contributed to strengthening the systems of relations
among the players of tourism in the region, to establish
joint thinking, to establish cooperation between the profit
and non-profit sectors, and along the border, that is to
strengthen the regional cohesion. The guests arriving
in the region contribute to the growth in the income of
entrepreneurs involved in tourism as an outcome of the
marketing activity.
