Subsidy amount: 148 599 EUR
Aim of the project
To extend the tourist offer in the town of Lenti and its close surrounding in the field of cultural and natural tourism.
The aim is to jointly improve the common marketing and international activities in cooperation with Felsô-Ôrség (Oberward-
Bad-Tatzmannsdors). Furthermore, it is aimed at making the tourist and business relation lively between the two regions,
and to further improve the tourist offer taking the similar conditions into consideration. The preparation of investments for
business promotion is considered an important aspect in order to be able to create multilateral business-tourist relations
in the region later on and to increase the resources of the organisations.
Content of the project
The refurbishment, establishment and furnishing of the
facility ‘House of Traditions’ was carried out, housing a
standard and temporary exhibition section, a bureau for
tourist organisation and information, and a gift store.
The House of Traditions is responsible for the task
to promote the product development in tourism in
cooperation with the municipalities, enterprises of the
region, to harmonise the cultural, art and folk-art events,
and to edit the event calendar thereon, furthermore to
identify the cross-border cooperation opportunities, to
establish direct partner relations. Simultaneously with
the investment the cultural tourism-related training was
realised with the attendance of 17 people.
During the training the participants elaborated thematic
product groups, and drew up a cultural tourist product list
for the region. The marketing strategy connected to the
natural tourism was also worked out during the project.
As an additional activity, a camp was held for kids for
tradition preservation in Pák. In cooperation with the
Municipality of Lenti and the partner in Burgenland special
‘businessmen’ meetings and study tours were organised,
two to Austria and two to Hungary as well. Municipalities,
non-profit organisations, enterprises involved in the
development of tourism attended the study tours.
Besides, a general tourist publication was produced and
the website www.lenti-haranglabakfoldje.hu established.
At a two-day festival 5 venues hosted about 30 presenters
and 15 programmes – from play houses to dance houses
– attended by almost 1,000 interested visitors. The project
ended with a special conference.
Results of the project
With the special study tours contact was established
between the organisations involved in the field of tourism
in Hungary and Austria. Thanks to the conferences and
trade meetings the relations among the municipalities,
non-profit organisations and enterprises got deeper.
An additional result is that the Visitor Centre of the House
of Traditions has been fully equipped and put into operation,
and booked with programmes. The new tourist target
points based on unexploited natural and cultural conditions
have been mapped in the region – in addition to the existing
tourism products.
