and surrounding<br />

Aim of the project<br />

Renovation of the spectator stand and the surrounding of the open-air stage in the town of Zalakaros. The development<br />

includes the revitalisation of the open-air stage and its surrounding in addition to rebuilding the facility. The surface of the<br />

promenades in the park will be replaced, made wider, a connection to the pedestrian traffic will be built, and the car park<br />

modernised with new surface covering.<br />

Content of the project<br />

The company refurbishing the open-air stage and its<br />

surrounding was selected in a public procurement<br />

procedure. During the construction work the spectator<br />

stand of the open-air stage was renovated, the old dressing<br />

block was demolished and a new dressing wing was built<br />

as stated in the building plans, public toilets on 10,05<br />

square metres, and the pavement surface on 585 sq.m.<br />

and in 331 m length was replaced and made wider in the<br />

vicinity of the open-air stage, and of the stairs leading to<br />

the park and the car park was rebuilt on 1070 sq.m.<br />

Results of the project<br />

The organisations involved in the project established close<br />

partnerships, learnt about the activities, operation and<br />

applied methods of each other. As participants attach<br />

special role to tourism, cooperation primarily was achieved<br />

in this field. The major part of the tourists arriving in<br />

Zalakaros come from Burgenland and other parts of<br />

Austria. Joint programmes were organised, the Austrian<br />

Partner contributed to the better utilisation of the openair<br />

stage and its surrounding with varied ideas. As a<br />

consequence, local ensembles of Zalakaros performed in<br />

Austria with their cultural programmes, and the Oberwart<br />

cultural unions in Zalakaros.<br />
