Aim of the project
To create a Visitor Centre and guest house at the Habsburg House in Mosonmagyaróvár. In addition, the project aims at
promoting the cultural and natural tourist attractions on both sides of the border, at presenting the treasures of the region,
thus to increase the number of visitors arriving in the region, to increase the number of the guest nights spent here.
Content of the project
AA tourist centre was established through the project,
which meant the internal-external upgrading of one of the
attractions in town under protection as monuments. The centre
accommodates a guest house with a 30-person capacity,
a conference room for 35-40 persons, a multimedia room
for 20 persons, and an exhibition hall suitable for temporary
exhibitions located in the same room with the reception.
The IT and technical equipment, furthermore furniture and
other devices were also purchased. The target group of
the established centre is made up by tourists arriving from
Austria, Hungary and the European Union and enterprises
engaged with tourism along the border. Conferences
are planned to take place addressed at the target groups,
whereby conference tourism can be strengthened on
one hand, and the exchange of information among the
specialists in the border region on the other. Organising
different exhibitions are primarily aimed at promoting the
introduction of the small regions, small areas referenced
in the project. Besides, the organisers re-launched the
series of events under the title ‘Music Summer Nights’
successfully held earlier as part of the Mosonmagyarvár
Summer Festival, to which both the Habsburg House yard
and the decorative ‘big yard’ of the school operating next
to the guest house were made available. The conference
under the title ‘Tourism potentials in the ‘Golden triangle’
was held with the intention of having a mutual appearance
with the Austrian partners, whereby interesting lectures
were delivered on the opportunities, methods of effective
access to the international tourism markets; on the
formulation of a joint strategy to be followed; and
the sustainability of the quality in tourism.
Result of the project
Tourists arriving in Mosonmagyaróvár can get an overview
on the region’s tourist offer in a modern environment
more effectively and much quicker. In possession of the
information received they spend their vacation in the
region meaningful, much more varied, as systematised
information materials are available for them, which help
in the orientation in the vast data and information.
The performance of the tourist enterprises will improve
with the help of the project, as the number of the arriving
guests will grow as a consequence of the project, they
want to spend longer time and right after crossing
the border they can search for programmes, lodging for
their stay with the help of a serious information database.
