in the West-Pannon Region

Aim of the project
To help the growth of business potential of the Austrian-Hungarian border region, to create competitiveness, to build
partnership and cooperation. It is furthermore targeted to take the tourist offer of the neighbouring regions to the market
of third countries, and to extend the knowledge of tourist enterprises and thus to increase the region’s competitiveness.
Content of the project
In this project service providers engaged in tourism in Vas,
Zala and Gyôr-Moson-Sopron County, and in Lower Austria
and Burgenland appeared in a joint publication, which
showed the tourist attractions, programme possibilities in
the region (bicycle tour routes, mountain railways, castle
and mansion tours, wine tours and cultural programmes)
in addition to the lodging and catering establishments,
and other tourist service providers. With the publications
the organisations appeared at international tourism
fairs as well. TThe Hungarian Service Providers in the
publication participated in a three-day long theoretical and
practical tourism training course consisting of 4 modules,
along with other entreprises that have an interest in tourism.
During the project the full content of the publication was
added in Hungarian, English and German to the homepage
“Tourist programmes in West-Pannon Reigon”
(www.alpok-puszta.hu) together with maps and pictures.
The above mentioned company attended a two-day
conference on tourism and a special programme, closing
and assessing the project results, experiences and the
possibilities of sustainability.
Results of the project
The publication, titled Tourist programmes in the West-
Pannon region was published in 10,000 copies on 56 pages
with 63 recommendations. The training consisting of four
modules was held with the attendance of 26 service providers
active in tourism, and the two-day trade conference and
practical programmes with 51 attendees. Due to
cooperations formed, cross-border tourist relations became
stronger. In the long run, making the tourist offer supply
widely known and taking it to the market generate new
demand, both the domestic and incoming tourism will grow.
Thanks to cross-border cooperation the number of guest
nights spent in the region by tourists and the duration of
the stay will grow, so will the amount of income coming
from tourism.
