Aim of the project<br />
To help the growth of business potential of the Austrian-Hungarian border region, to create competitiveness, to build<br />
partnership and cooperation. It is furthermore targeted to take the tourist offer of the neighbouring regions to the market<br />
of third countries, and to extend the knowledge of tourist enterprises and thus to increase the region’s competitiveness.<br />
Content of the project<br />
In this project service providers engaged in tourism in Vas,<br />
Zala and Gyôr-Moson-Sopron County, and in Lower Austria<br />
and Burgenland appeared in a joint publication, which<br />
showed the tourist attractions, programme possibilities in<br />
the region (bicycle tour routes, mountain railways, castle<br />
and mansion tours, wine tours and cultural programmes)<br />
in addition to the lodging and catering establishments,<br />
and other tourist service providers. With the publications<br />
the organisations appeared at international tourism<br />
fairs as well. TThe Hungarian Service Providers in the<br />
publication participated in a three-day long theoretical and<br />
practical tourism training course consisting of 4 modules,<br />
along with other entreprises that have an interest in tourism.<br />
During the project the full content of the publication was<br />
added in Hungarian, English and German to the homepage<br />
“Tourist programmes in West-Pannon Reigon”<br />
(www.alpok-puszta.hu) together with maps and pictures.<br />
The above mentioned company attended a two-day<br />
conference on tourism and a special programme, closing<br />
and assessing the project results, experiences and the<br />
possibilities of sustainability.<br />
Results of the project<br />
The publication, titled Tourist programmes in the West-<br />
Pannon region was published in 10,000 copies on 56 pages<br />
with 63 recommendations. The training consisting of four<br />
modules was held with the attendance of 26 service providers<br />
active in tourism, and the two-day trade conference and<br />
practical programmes with 51 attendees. Due to<br />
cooperations formed, cross-border tourist relations became<br />
stronger. In the long run, making the tourist offer supply<br />
widely known and taking it to the market generate new<br />
demand, both the domestic and incoming tourism will grow.<br />
Thanks to cross-border cooperation the number of guest<br />
nights spent in the region by tourists and the duration of<br />
the stay will grow, so will the amount of income coming<br />
from tourism.<br />
