Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,<br />

Damen und Herren,<br />

Messieurs et Mesdames!<br />

We are in moving or shaky<br />

times! Some might call them<br />

volatile times with a sound of<br />

regret, others describe them<br />

with a certain excitement as a<br />

roller coaster, many view them<br />

as a threat and many others<br />

still see plenty of chances!<br />

In the past months things have<br />

changed in our world – the<br />

powerful economic centers<br />

are shifting – and a crisis also<br />

generates technical changes,<br />

as already been known by the<br />

ancient Greeks (and the young<br />

Greeks may learn it again?).<br />

Since a lot has changed on<br />

our side over the past months,<br />

it would be appropriate to<br />

publish this corporate magazine<br />

as a book. But due to<br />

various reasons we have to<br />

limit ourselves. Nevertheless<br />

we will shortly be publishing<br />

a book covering 350 years<br />

of Heinz-Glas in Kleintettau<br />

- with plenty of important<br />

information for our business<br />

partners and employees.<br />

We do not want to look further<br />

ahead than mid 2011, and<br />

because of the soon to be<br />

published anniversary book, I<br />

do not have to look too far back<br />

at this point. Nevertheless I<br />

want to look back a little bit,<br />

especially in the area that has<br />

not been covered in our last<br />

Hüttenpost, first and foremost<br />

Heinz Plastics. Therefore I do<br />

not just want to refer to the<br />

page 22 and the pages that<br />

roller coaster/ Achterbahn 2009-2010<br />

follow but also mention the<br />

organizational changes on<br />

the company board displayed<br />

on page 20 with Mr. François<br />

Dujardin together with<br />

myself and the new co-chief<br />

executive at HP; Mr. Scheck,<br />

to regain synergies that have<br />

been lost over the past years<br />

through diversification and<br />

decentralization and to bring all<br />

“Horse Power” within the Heinz<br />

Plastics Group on track. After<br />

all Heinz Plastics has more than<br />

60 machines and a combined<br />

yearly turnover performance of<br />

over 60 million Euro. In doing<br />

so Heinz Plastics Polska is being<br />

expanded significantly in our<br />

own facilities (see page 24) after<br />

the production were located<br />

in rented areas with increasing<br />

limitations over the past years.<br />

We want to develop the<br />

business branch “Plastics” again<br />

as a second strong “leg” of our<br />

family-owned business group at<br />

three German, one Polish, one<br />

Swiss and one U.S. American<br />

production site after it was<br />

originally founded in 1955 by<br />

the previous generation.<br />

Certainly there is also important<br />

news from the three times as big<br />

Heinz-Glass business branch,<br />

especially due to the fact that<br />

we fired up our E-furnace on<br />

the 2nd of March 2010 again<br />

after we had to shut down this<br />

brand new 20 million Euro<br />

furnace after just 9 months of<br />

service in summer of 2008.<br />

And we were able to achieve<br />

this thanks to the exceptional<br />

performance of our employees,<br />

therefore this 37th Hüttenpost<br />

edition focuses also on them.<br />
