With the promotion decision to
support the “European Flacon Glass
Museum” with 292,000 Euros from
the Leader Plus Funds, long awaited
dreams finally came true.
The Leader managers Wolfgang Keck
and Michael Hofmann (previous page
photo in foreground from left) handed
over yesterday the promotional check
for the European Flacon Glass Museum
in Kleintettau. Carl-August Heinz,
president of the Glass Preservers
Association, and Oswald Marr, district
administrator, were very happy to
receive this support.
Tettau - “Because of this subsidy
application I have gotten a lot of gray
hairs over the last two years”, revealed
the Mayor of Tettau, Hans Kaufmann.
The fight with the bureaucracy for
subsidies for the European Flacon
Glass Museum took its toll. But the
festivity last Tuesday afternoon in the
Glass Museum might have beautified
his hair, because Hans Kaufmann did
a great deal for this success as cashier
of the Glass Preservers Association,
which presented the history of the 350
years old glass making tradition in the
Franconian Forest in its Flacon Glass
Museum in a very lively way.
The Leader managers Michael
Hofmann and Wolfgang Keck had
the decided promotion of 292,000
Euros in their luggage. “We, the
Association of Glass Preservers, are
the engine for the museum and you,
dear gentlemen, are the fuel we
need”, said the mayor and added:
“We hope you all will refuel it
again and again“. Now, the second
development stage of the Flacon
Glass Museum can finally begin,
meaning that the exhibition area
will double in size.
„We have been waiting almost two
years and already have our plans
fully prepared, so that we are ready
for action”, said the curator for the
glass museum, Mrs. Jana Buhrow.
The second development step
should be finished by the end of the
year. She is also eagerly awaiting
the third development step with
a children’s museum for younger
generation. Besides, there will
also be a fourth development step,
enlarging the museum up to more
than 600 square meters!
„We, via our local Leader working
group in the Franconian Forest and
its president, district administrator
Mr. Oswald Marr, have applied for
the promotion aid of 292,000 Euros
because we believe that the museum
represents a very important project
for our region, a lighthouse
project”, stressed regional manager
Willi Fehn. We can use this project
in the future as an example for the
development of other attractions,
such as the tropical house.
Therefore, we have doubled the
usual promotion upper limit of
150,000 Euros and applied for the
necessary ministry approval. „The
project was simply very important
for us“, said the regional manager.
Afterwards the Leader managers
Wolfgang Keck and Michael
Hofmann made a tour of the Flacon
Glass Museum guided by Carl-
August Heinz. They also learned
about old glass-makers professions
like “Zuhälter“ and “Anfänger“ and
how alcohol is decomposed by the
lungs.
If you are also interested, use the
chance and visit the museum.
