II. 2002 – 2008 Arbeitswelt in den USA - Tylle, H. D.

His plentiful studies in natural, cultural, industrial and urban landscapes, during the day and night,
above all in the 1980s and 1990s and as afar afield as the United States, may have encouraged
Americans to take another look at his theme, the world of labor. With his openness for the new, his
engaging nature in personal encounters and his swift and direct approach, he quickly established a
rapport with American industrial entrepreneurs, and these gave him generous access to their production
installations. From some he even received commissions.
The abundance and diversity of the pictures produced in the United States in work rooms, factory
shops and during work outdoors in the countryside testify to the affability universally shown toward
the painter by American businesspeople, who also see in Tylle’s art an acknowledgement of their
entrepreneurial achievements.
During his documentary sketches on site, he experiences the interest of some of the laborers at
work. Astonished at the “ennoblement” of their work through art, they hope to rediscover themselves
in portrait-like depictions.
Tylle’s constant endeavor to perceive the work situation with as many senses as possible enables
him to forge a human bond with the workers without losing his artistic distance.
The appreciation of his paintings and artistic interpretations of the industrial world of labor has
brought Tylle in close contact with the highly successful entrepreneur and art collector Eckhart G.
Grohmann in Milwaukee, who has brought together the world’s biggest collection of paintings and
sculptures of the world of work from 16th century to the present.
