The United Nations Economic Commission for Europe
(UNECE) was set up in 1947 by ECOSOC. It is one
of five regional commissions of the United Nations. Its
major aim is to promote pan-European economic integration.
UNECE includes 56 member States in Europe, North
America and Asia. However, all interested United Nations
member States may participate in the work of UNECE.
Over 70 international professional organizations and other
non-governmental organizations take part in UNECE activities.

The International Strategy for Disaster Reduction is a
strategic framework, adopted by United Nations Member
States in 2000, that guides and coordinates the efforts
of a wide range of partners to achieve substantive
reduction in disaster losses and build resilient nations and
communities as an essential condition for sustainable development.
UNISDR, the UN Office for Disaster Risk
Reduction, is the secretariat of the International Strategy
for Disaster Reduction.

The United Nations Human Settlements Programme,
UN-Habitat, is the United Nations agency for human settlements.
It is mandated by the UN General Assembly to

and cities with the goal of providing adequate shelter for

The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) is a
specialized agency of the United Nations. It is the UN system‘s
authoritative voice on the state and behaviour of
the Earth‘s atmosphere, its interaction with the oceans,
the climate it produces and the resulting distribution of
water resources.
WRF is an independent non-profit international organization
that serves as a platform connecting and fostering
knowledge exchange on resources management
amongst business leaders, policy-makers, NGOs, scientists
and the public.
