POWER TO THE CONSUMERS!
According to a study by the German Federal
Environment Agency, 18 percent of those
questioned believe that the federal government
is not doing enough to protect the environment
and the climate. But what about
our private lives? We ourselves can partially
reduce almost everything that causes
emissions and pollution: Aviation and car
miles, packaging of all kinds, meat and milk
consumption, heating energy, paper, printer
ink and clothes. Leaving it up to a handful
of politicians to ensure that we will still
have an intact environment in forty years‘
time makes about as much sense as trying
to solve a math equation by baking pie. Us
consumers have to take the reins into our
own hands and send clear signals to the corporations
through our consumer behavior. The
supply must not determine the demand.
ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY IN
EVERYDAY LIFE
If you ask around, it becomes clear that
most of us want to be more environmentally
conscious. But the possibilities of doing
so are in some cases still very limited. It‘s
particularly difficult with plastic. If you look
at the shelves in supermarkets, it quickly
becomes clear why. Except for a few apples
and bananas, almost everything is packaged.
Since the bio-plastic alternative is not a real
alternative either, the question arises:
