Long-term residents of the neighborhood have
already gone through a lot. After the first Swabian
invasion, the former gay Mecca in the east
of the capital became a child-friendly wasteland.
Absurd rent increases displaced most of
the area’s queer community to Reinickendorf,
where they were left to their online dating fate,
while the gay bars closed down one after the
other. Only in the last few years has the area
developed back into a real nightlife district,
where you can still buy organic oat latte
macchiatos, but now with an optional splash of
vodka -- provided we ever get out of lockdown.
It’s not only the new and old community spaces
like the Tipsy Bear, the Barbara Bar, the Stahlrohr,
the Greifbar, Marietta and Marienhof that
attract gays, bisexuals and transgender people
of all ages and sexual preferences to P-Berg.
When it comes to health, two new points of
contact help ensure that the community is well
looked after.
COMMUNITY
The practice at the Kulturbrauerei specializes
in general medicine, infectious diseases and
internal medicine. Dr. Ivanka Krznaric and Dr.
Henning Kolarikal look back on years of experience
in the field of HIV, addiction and travel
medicine. The new practice is within walking
distance of Eberswalder Straße Station and is
equipped with a modern interior and superfriendly
staff.
The Schönhauser Apotheke is well-equipped
to serve the district‘s gay and transgender
community. Astrid Rehbein and Nico Reinold
offer competent advice and care in all matters
relating to sexual health and HIV. Diabetes and
rheumatism are also among the pharmacy‘s
fields of expertise, as are probiotic advice and
help with cleaning up the microbiome. So if
the bioflora in the body‘s digestive system is
damaged after a long period of medication,
you will find good advice here to bring the body
