HOTEL NEWS The Crown Metropol Melbourne Melbourne with new luxury hotels After reopening of The Cullen in November this past year and The Olsen on March 16 of this year, fashionable Melbourne will see yet another 5-star establishment open its doors for business. The Blackman operated under the Art Series Hotels brand is an unconventional hotel with boutique character situated on St. Kilda Road and will welcome its first guests in June 2010. Crown Hotels will also open a new hotel: from May of this year; the 28-story Crown Metropol in Southbank will hold available 658 stylish rooms, among these 33 suites. Starting shot for new Jumeirah Hotel in Bangkok The new 5-star Jumeirah Bangkok hotel is scheduled to open in downtown Bangkok in four years. It is currently being built on the Chao Phraya River near the Sathorn Bridge and the <strong>financial</strong> district. The hotel has 305 rooms and is designated to provide corporate travelers and tourists with an oasis of peace and relaxation at the center of the vibrant metropolis. Plans provide for a spa, a banquet and conference center as well as a 1,200 square meter ballroom with a view on the beautifully landscaped gardens. A choice selection of exclusive shops and restaurants rounds out the range of amenities. Style consultant for W Hotels W Hotels Worldwide, known as innovative player in the international hotel business, recently announced an absolute first-ever in this industry. They’ve appointed the internationally renowned stylist and fashion icon Amanda Ross to their first Global Fashion Director. For more than ten years , W Hotels according to own statements has "continually broken new ground through innovative and first-of-its-kind fashion initiatives and programs". Amanda Ross will act as strategic fashion consultant to W Hotels in the scope of worldwide expansion activities - plans provide for the portfolio to be enlarged by more than 50 hotels by 2011. Marriott to double presence in Europe by 2015 In context with global reorganization measures, which also affect the global expansion strategy of Marriott International, there are plans to have doubled the number of properties operated under the Marriott brand by 2015. Marriot International has been doing business in Europe for the past 35 years and currently has 174 hotels flying its corporate flag. Plans are to raise the number of rooms from presently 40,000 to approximately 80,000 in the next five years. Seven of 18 Marriott brands are already active in Europe, these are Ritz-Carlton, Bulgari, JW Marriott, Marriott Hotels & Resorts, Renaissance Hotels, Courtyard by Marriott, and Marriott Executive Apartments. Ritz-Carlton to open on Aruba in 2019 The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, L.L.C. in cooperation with Aruba authorities has announced plans for a new resort. The Ritz-Carlton, Aruba will be the luxury hotel group’s seventh property in the Caribbean and the first one operated on the Netherlands Antilles. Located directly on Palm Beach, the hotel will feature various restaurants, an extensive spa, two pools and a 24-hour casino. Autograph Collection presents first seven hotels Marriott International has taken over seven exceptional hotels in the Kessler Collection and thus officially launched its new Autograph Collection brand to the market.
