pc1: <strong>Prague</strong>’s Jewish History: A Journey<br />

of Personal and Cultural <strong>Leadership</strong><br />

this Ila preconference will feature prague native and<br />

holocaust survivor, helga hoskova. during the first element<br />

of this preconference, Mrs. hoskova will share her moving life<br />

story, through discussion and the viewing of a documentary<br />

film on her inspirational life, Draw as Long as You Can see.<br />

the film focuses on Mrs. hoskova’s imprisonment at the<br />

theresienstadt concentration camp in czechoslovakia.<br />

during her confinement as a child she created over 100<br />

drawings. following the film and discussion, attendees<br />

will experience the second element of the preconference<br />

by having the great opportunity to view Mrs. hoskova’s<br />

drawings at the robert guttmann gallery, which will be<br />

exhibiting Mrs. hoskova’s work commemorating her 80th<br />

birthday. the third and final element of this preconference<br />

is a sightseeing tour of prague’s Jewish Quarter, Josefov.<br />

participants will be guided through historic Josefov,<br />

experiencing three of its most important sites: the oldnew<br />

synagogue, the old Jewish cemetery, and the pinkas<br />

synagogue. Join us for this truly special, intimate, and<br />

incredible opportunity.<br />

pc2: Leading Transformation: Sights, Sounds,<br />

and Stories of the Velvet Revolution<br />

the 11th annual Ila conference will be held as prague<br />

celebrates the 20th anniversary of the velvet revolution—<br />

a six-week series of demonstrations that overthrew the<br />

communist government at the end of 1989. this Ila<br />

preconference will provide participants with an introspective<br />

account of the events of the velvet revolution told from the<br />

people involved and at the places where the events took<br />

place. the preconference will begin with an incredible panel<br />

discussion about the events of 1989. Moderated by acclaimed<br />

czech television journalist nora fridrichová, this panel will<br />

feature two influential leaders who were a part of the velvet<br />

revolution, Jan urban and simon panek. the panel will share<br />

their experiences of leadership during the velvet revolution,<br />

the event that transformed the czech republic. participants<br />

will then take part in a guided tour of the key locations where<br />

the events of the velvet revolution took place.<br />

experience the velvet revolution, learning from individuals<br />

who took part in the events, walking the same steps that the<br />

democratic reformists courageously took, and immersing<br />

yourself in true transformational leadership.<br />

World Café Europe: Dialogue with Local <strong>Czech</strong><br />

Leaders on Corporate Social Responsibility<br />

In partnership with the czech chapter of the business<br />

leaders forum, world café europe is providing the<br />

opportunity to discuss leadership topics that matter with<br />

regional leaders. the business leaders forum has invited 100<br />

members from its network to participate in the conversation.<br />

Ila conference participants can join this unique opportunity<br />

to exchange views with czech leaders. this participatory<br />

dialogue session will explore the topic of corporate social<br />

responsibility and its meaning for social transformation.<br />

This event will take place on Thursday, november 12, from<br />

17:00 – 20:00. The location of this event is the prague Hhalol Choir<br />

building. Kindly meet in InterContinental praha lobby at 16:35<br />

for a guided walk or assistance with tram to venue.<br />

Collaborative <strong>Leadership</strong>:<br />

A Transformative Musical Performance<br />

Join harvey seifter and a group of prague's finest musicians<br />

on an extraordinary journey into the collaborative leadership<br />

process of chamber music—a process that engages the talent,<br />

vision, and creativity of each participant by putting power<br />

and responsibility in the hands of the people doing the work;<br />

sharing and rotating leadership roles; and settling the inevitable<br />

disputes between players without resorting to compromise.<br />

this is a rare opportunity to experience the inner workings of<br />

a world where individual responsibility, workplace democracy,<br />

and high performance teamwork combine to create richly<br />

expressive, technically brilliant and joyously harmonious musical<br />

performances. the performance location will be the historic and<br />

beautiful lichtenstein palace. the first large baroque building in<br />

prague, lichtenstein palace was built at the beginning of the 16th<br />

century, and is the home of the academy of performing arts.<br />

This event will take place on Friday, november 13, from 20:30 –<br />

21:30. The location of this event is Lichtenstein palace. Kindly meet<br />

in the InterContinental praha Lobby by 19:45 for transportation<br />

Young Leaders Dialogue<br />

on tuesday november 10th, a group of high school age persons<br />

met to discuss their views of leadership for transformation. the<br />

dialogue was hosted by the gymnázium nad alejí in prague.<br />

as transformation is about the future, and the future<br />

challenges us to make space for young people to lead, this<br />

dialogue provided an opportunity for a group of young<br />

people to share what they have learned and experienced<br />

of leadership in their communities.
