Grand Master, it is by resisting oppression and imposture<br />
by all available means, by calling down the hatred<br />
of the people on the head of tyrants and impostors, by<br />
undermining and overthrowing their power, even by<br />
force of arms, th~t we fulfill the obligation of punishing<br />
crime.<br />
Three Puissant Grand Master—What do you mean<br />
by protecting innocence?<br />
First Lieutenant Grand Master—Thrice Puissant<br />
Graud Master, it is by raising mankind from the degradation<br />
in which they are sunken; by diffusing abroad<br />
the blessings of education; by bringing our fellow beings<br />
to the highest degree of civilization to which humanity<br />
can pretend that we obey the command of our Thrice<br />
Puissant Grand Master, and that we attain the objects<br />
which the Knights Kadosh have in view to protect innocence.<br />

Our Father, who art in Heaven, in whom we live,<br />

man should enjoy all the benefits wIliclI Thy niunificence<br />
holds out to him, may thy kindness llelp us in removing<br />
the obstacles which tyranny and imposture have<br />
set up against thy holy and ever just providence. Oh!<br />
help us in setting our brethren free. In punishing the<br />
oppressors df humanity, may we never pronounce in vain<br />
our terrible motto, Nckam Adonai. Amen, so mote<br />

and Independent State of under the Jurisdiction<br />

throne, proceeds to the West and presents the hilt of<br />
his sword which he holds by the blade. All the Knights<br />
pass successively before the Thrice Puissant Grand Master,<br />
extend the right hand over the hilt of the sword and<br />
