charge of our Most Enlightened Brother, the Master of<br />

Ceremonies and there kneel with sincerity and reverence,<br />

with no thought in your heart and no word on your lips<br />

but those of soberness and truth. (Master of Ceremonies<br />

conducts him to the altar, causes him to kneel on the<br />

right knee, and places in his left hand the scales of justice,<br />

laying his right hand on the book of constitutions.)<br />

their left hands over him while they hold their swords<br />

in token of humility and reverential awe of Deity;<br />

do you, upon these emblems of justice, equity, uprightness<br />

and the law’s dread vengeance, most solemnly<br />

and sincerely swear that you will never reveal any of<br />

the secrets of Grand Inspector Inquisitor Commander to<br />

any person and under any circumstances in the world,<br />

unless duly permitted to do so by a Consistory of Sublime<br />

Princes of the Royal Secret.<br />

Moat Perfect President—Do you furthermore promise<br />

and swear that you will scrupulously observe and cause<br />

to be observed, the constitutions, statutes and regulations<br />

of this Supreme Tribunal so long as you remain a<br />

member thereof; that you will with zeal and energy<br />

propagate the doctrines of the Ancient and Accepted<br />

<strong>Rite</strong> of l~Thsonry, and labor for its diffusion and prosperity,<br />

and that you will not consent to the admission of<br />

any person to the high degrees of the <strong>Rite</strong> who is not an<br />

intelligent man, of respectable acquirements and information,<br />

and of virtue and honor?<br />
