Commander in Chief—Sublime Princes, I am willing<br />

to see this brother introduced among us, because we<br />

cannot enlist too many champions of our sacred cause.<br />

has vouched for him in such terms as our usages require,<br />

and we are therefore authorized to believe that he<br />

will do <strong>Masonry</strong> good service, in the war which she is<br />

waging against the ancient enemies of the human race.<br />

Captain of Guard—Remove the barrier, and let the<br />

Grand Master of Ceremonies enter with the brother.<br />

reluctantly, or as a criminal, into this holy sanctuary?<br />

Master of Ceremonies—It is a lover of wisdom, and<br />

an apostle of liberty, equality and fraternity, as understood<br />

by true Masons. He seeks to unite with those<br />

who labor for the emancipation of msnkind.<br />

Commander in Chief—What has he done hitherto toward<br />

that mighty work?<br />

Master of Oeremonies—He has advanced in regular<br />

gradation, from the degree of Entered Apprentice to<br />

that of Grand Inspector Inquisitor Commander 1 and in<br />

all, his merits and his good works have obtained him<br />

the approbation and good opinion of his brethren.<br />

Cornnwnder in Chief—By what principles, above all<br />

others, does he now profess to be governed?<br />

Master of Ceremonies—By those of justice and equity.<br />

Commander in Chief—What is it he now desires?<br />

Master of Ceremonies—To be admitted a Prince of<br />

this Grand Consistory, that he may the more effectually<br />

~id in the great struggle for which <strong>Masonry</strong> is preparing,<br />

the second war against the giants, in which the liberty<br />

and happiness of humanity are at stake.<br />

Commander in Chief—What means does he possess,<br />

and with what arms is he supplied, that can render him<br />

an efficient soldier in our ranks?<br />

Master of Ceremonies—He has courage and pure inten<br />

tion S.<br />

Commander in Chief—Are they enough?<br />

Master of Ceremonies—No! He needs further instructions<br />

to have the veil finally removed, that has so long<br />

interposed between him and the true <strong>Masonic</strong> light; to<br />

attain the summit of the mounlain up whose slopes he<br />

commenced to toil as an Entered Apprentice, and above<br />

all, the aid of him in the hollow of whose hand are<br />

victory and disaster, and who alone can give us strength<br />

to overcome.<br />

Commander in Chief—We rejoice to receive the answers.<br />

My brother your motives are worthy of all praise.<br />

and if you are sincere; if you adopt as your own what<br />

the Grand Master of Ceremonies answered in your name.<br />
