Immature food plant at Location; small patch in poorly-drained area surroun- ding Buada Lagoon and six plants cultivated in moist area in mulched plaited pandanus- leaf baskets in Topside Workshop food gardens in 1987. Very important staple root crop and ceremonial food in Tuvalu and Kiribati and other low-lying atoll countries of Micronesia, but evidently not traditionally important in Nauru.
