The Fayette County Board of Education met at 701 East Main Street, Lexington, KY at 6:00 pm on
the 24 th day of March 2011, with the following members present: (1) John Price; (2) Melissa
Bacon; (3) Amanda Ferguson; (4) Douglas Barnett and (5) Daryl Love

PURPOSE OF MEETING
Pursuant to KRS Chapter 61, notice was given that on March 21, 2011, the Chair of the Fayette
County Board of Education called a special meeting of the Board of Education for Thursday, March
24, 2011 at 6:00 pm. 701 E. Main St., in Conference Room A, for the purpose of discussing the
search process for a superintendent with representatives from McPherson & Jacobson, L.L.C.

The meeting was called to order by John Price, Board Chair, at 6:01 pm.
Introductions of the McPherson and Jacobson representatives, Loe Dunn and Tom
Jacobson, were made.
Considerable discussion about the timeline for the search process which yielded the
following:
o Focus groups will meet the week of April 18
o Board meeting with McPherson and Jacobson consultants on May 9 (lunch
meeting)
o Application submittal closes on May 16
o Screening Committee will meet to review applications between May 17 – May 30
o Board meeting at 6:00 p.m. on May 31 to review recommendations from the
screening committee and applications
o Interview candidates June 6 – 9
Consultants utilized the nominal group technique to help Board members prioritize
characteristics desired in the next superintendent
