A motion was made by Doug Barnett and seconded by Amanda Ferguson to adopt Schools’ Senate Bill
168 targets. The motion carried with a vote of 5 to 0.
23. 2012-2013 Instructional Calendar
Doug Barnett:
Concerns with winter break - shorter travel time and possible hardships with parental custody
agreements
Need to start earlier in August – possibly August 8 th
Need winter break to extend through the first week of January
Stu Silberman:
First week of January - not a good week for winter break
Amanda Ferguson:
Feedback – starting too early
Feedback – starting school with partial week beneficial
Melissa Bacon:
Feedback – starting too early
Daryl Love:
Can support the calendar – comfortable with the input from the committee
John Price:
Calendar responsive to feedback that school starting too early
Appreciate the work of the committee – good calendar
Make-up of calendar - what is best for students and teachers
Jack Hayes:
The majority of the Calendar Committee is parents. Next year a Board member will also be on
the committee.
A motion was made by Melissa Bacon and seconded by Amanda Ferguson to approve the 2012-2013
Instructional Calendar as presented. The motion carried with a vote of 4 to 1 with Doug Barnett voting no.
22. Monthly Financial Report
Becky Riley, Associate Director Financial Services reported:
Net revenue over expenses of $102,594,442.38
Approximately 81% revenue received
Total year to date expenses approximately 50%
No unexplained variances or unauthorized expenditures
Financial position remains very sound in relation to assets versus liabilities
A motion was made by Melissa Bacon and seconded by Daryl Love, to accept the Monthly Treasurer’s
Report of Revenue/Expense reports as presented to the Board. The motion carried with a vote of 5 to 0.
