22. Senate Bill 168 (KRS 158.649) 2012 Targets<br />

A motion was made by Doug Barnett and seconded by Amanda Ferguson to adopt <strong>Schools</strong>’ Senate Bill<br />

168 targets. The motion carried with a vote <strong>of</strong> 5 to 0.<br />

23. 2012-2013 Instructional Calendar<br />

Doug Barnett:<br />

Concerns with winter break - shorter travel time and possible hardships with parental custody<br />

agreements<br />

Need to start earlier in August – possibly August 8 th<br />

Need winter break to extend through the first week <strong>of</strong> January<br />

Stu Silberman:<br />

First week <strong>of</strong> January - not a good week for winter break<br />

Amanda Ferguson:<br />

Feedback – starting too early<br />

Feedback – starting school with partial week beneficial<br />

Melissa Bacon:<br />

Feedback – starting too early<br />

Daryl Love:<br />

Can support the calendar – comfortable with the input from the committee<br />

John Price:<br />

Calendar responsive to feedback that school starting too early<br />

Appreciate the work <strong>of</strong> the committee – good calendar<br />

Make-up <strong>of</strong> calendar - what is best for students and teachers<br />

Jack Hayes:<br />

The majority <strong>of</strong> the Calendar Committee is parents. Next year a <strong>Board</strong> member will also be on<br />

the committee.<br />

A motion was made by Melissa Bacon and seconded by Amanda Ferguson to approve the 2012-2013<br />

Instructional Calendar as presented. The motion carried with a vote <strong>of</strong> 4 to 1 with Doug Barnett voting no.<br />

22. Monthly Financial Report<br />

Becky Riley, Associate Director Financial Services reported:<br />

Net revenue over expenses <strong>of</strong> $102,594,442.38<br />

Approximately 81% revenue received<br />

Total year to date expenses approximately 50%<br />

No unexplained variances or unauthorized expenditures<br />

Financial position remains very sound in relation to assets versus liabilities<br />

A motion was made by Melissa Bacon and seconded by Daryl Love, to accept the Monthly Treasurer’s<br />

Report <strong>of</strong> Revenue/Expense reports as presented to the <strong>Board</strong>. The motion carried with a vote <strong>of</strong> 5 to 0.<br />
