they have their own improvised currency. Mrs. F"airbanks is<br />

patroness <strong>of</strong> this movement, but there is a man at the head<br />

<strong>of</strong> it. Four years she has been President-General <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Daughters <strong>of</strong> the American Revolution, and she was largely<br />

responsible for the establishment <strong>of</strong> the new memorial<br />

hall which was recently dedicated in Washington. Her work<br />

has been mainly the selecting and marking <strong>of</strong> historic spots.<br />

THE FAIRBANKS FAMILY<br />

<strong>The</strong> younger element in the Fairbanks family is quite<br />

promising. <strong>The</strong>re are four sons living, one <strong>of</strong> whom, Warren<br />

C, recently married Miss Ethel Cassidy, <strong>of</strong> Pittsburg, and is<br />

director <strong>of</strong> the Oliver Typewriter Works, in Chicago. <strong>The</strong><br />

other three boys are still studying. Frederick C. graduated<br />

last year from Princeton, and since then engaged in a law<br />

course at Columbia University, Washington. Richard is a<br />

junior at Yale, and Robert a student at Phillips Andover<br />

Academy.<br />

<strong>The</strong> only daughter, Miss Adelaide, is the eldest <strong>of</strong> the<br />

children. Only last September she became the bride <strong>of</strong> En-<br />

sign John W. Timmons, U.S.N., who hails from Chillicothe,<br />

O., and met Miss Fairbanks first at the Ohio Wesleyan.<br />

<strong>The</strong> other member <strong>of</strong> the family circle <strong>of</strong> Senator<br />

Fairbanks is his mother, now nearly seventy-five years old,<br />

who spends the winter with her son's family in Washington<br />

and the rest <strong>of</strong> the year with her daughter, Mrs. M. L.<br />

Milligan, <strong>of</strong> Springfield, O. Mrs. Milligan is the Senator's<br />

only sister, and the wife <strong>of</strong> former Mayor M. L. Milligan, <strong>of</strong><br />

Springfield, president <strong>of</strong> the Springfield Foundry Company<br />

and other manufacturing plants.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Senator has also three brothers, W. D. Fairbanks,<br />

president <strong>of</strong> the First National Bank <strong>of</strong> Mansfield, 111.;
