Edith Kermit <strong>Roosevelt</strong>, wife <strong>of</strong> President <strong>Roosevelt</strong>, was<br />

Lorn in Norwich, Conn., on Aug. 6, 1861, and is about three<br />

years younger than the President. She is the daughter <strong>of</strong><br />

Charles and Gertrude Elizabeth Tyler Carow; granddaughter<br />

<strong>of</strong> Isaac and Eliza Mowatt Carow, and <strong>of</strong> Daniel and Emily<br />

Lee Tyler, and a descendant <strong>of</strong> Isaac Ouereau and Judith<br />

Ouentin (Huguenots), who emigrated from France after the<br />

revocation <strong>of</strong> the edict <strong>of</strong> Nantes, first to Holland' and then to<br />

New York City, and <strong>of</strong> Job Tyler and Mary, his wife, who<br />

emigrated from Shropshire, England, were admitted to the<br />

town <strong>of</strong> Newport, Rhode Island, 1638 (Colonial Records, Vol.<br />

I, page 92), and settled in Andover, Mass., 1639. She was<br />

educated in New York City, and was married Dec. 2, 1886, to<br />

<strong>The</strong>odore <strong>Roosevelt</strong>.<br />

THE PRESIDENT'S FAMILY<br />

<strong>The</strong> children <strong>of</strong> the President and Mrs. <strong>Roosevelt</strong> are:<br />

<strong>The</strong>odore, Jr., born Sept. 13, 1S87; Kermit, born Oct. 10, 1889;<br />

Ethel Carow, born Aug. 10, 1891; Archibald Bulloch, born<br />
