Relative effect of variables in caddisfly distribution<br />

The variance partition results (Figure 9) indicate that environmental variables explain 20.8%<br />

of caddisfly distribution. From those, geomorphological features are the responsible of the<br />

major part of environmental variability (53.9%), followed by a mix of physical-chemical and<br />

biological community’s characteristics. Temporality presents a low percentage explaining<br />

caddisfly communities. On the other hand, although significant, only 0.93% of trichoptera<br />

variation is explained by the seasonal effect. Interaction between environment and seasonality<br />

has also a weak importance in caddisfly distribution (0.2%). A high percentage of unexplained<br />

variables are noticed (78%).<br />
