Irregular past participles
Whether the past participle is regular or irregular, using the past perfect tense requires conjugating
haber in the imperfect (había, habías, había, habíamos, habíais, habían).
Th e past participles do not change: Th ey will have the same form in the past perfect as in the
present perfect (and in all other compound tenses)—whether regular or irregular.
Irregular past participles can be found in Chapter 17, Th e present perfect tense.
