<strong>of</strong> Mexican pines, and a study <strong>of</strong> correlations between the<br />

density and mechanical strength <strong>of</strong> Mexican and foreign<br />

pines, a provisional classification <strong>of</strong> Mexican pine wood for<br />

structural purposes is derived. Four quality classes, and the<br />

limits <strong>of</strong> the defects (number, size, type, and position <strong>of</strong><br />

knots, extent <strong>of</strong> splits or cracks, etc.) permissible for each<br />

class are provided. Suggestions are made for the applica-<br />

tion <strong>of</strong> the structural classes.<br />
