roundwood, chips, sawn wood of Pinus radiata and rauli
(Nothofagus procera), particle and fibre boards, plywood,
veneer, and paper in Chile for the years 1966 to 1977. Data
Anon. 1978. Basralocus (Angelique). Bois et Forets des
Tropiques. 178: 17-28.
Describes Dicorynia guianensis which is found in Brazil,
French Guiana, and Surinam. Logs, lumber, wood anatomy,
and physical, mechanical, and chemical properties are de-
tailed. The wood has a high shrinkage, is medium heavy,
and hard to medium hard, with a high content of silica
which makes it very abrasive. The logs are durable in ma-
rine use but are not durable in soil contact, and are not
treatable with preservatives for prevention of decay. Pulp-
ing trials indicate that though the silica content is a disad-
vantage, it is suitable for pulp.
Anon. 1985. Favourable forest-products foreign trade bal-
ance. Chilean Forestry News. 85:2-4.
