4. Toxic materials content. Sewage sludge can sometimes contain heavy metals and<br />

other <strong>to</strong>xic materials. Sludge applications are regulated. Contact your local health<br />

department.<br />

Contact a reputable agricultural labora<strong>to</strong>ry for testing. Either contract with their<br />

technicians for the sampling or follow their directions in obtaining the samples yourself.<br />
