Loading and installing patches Figure 3-19. Software Management: Summary tab 3-42 General System Tasks Viewing currently installed patches To view the patches currently installed on your system, start the Admin Console and select Firewall Administration -> Software Management, and select the Summary tab. A window similar to the following appears. About the Summary tab The Summary tab displays information about the patches currently installed on the Sidewinder G2. This window also enables you to do the following: Details—To display a detailed description of a particular patch, highlight the patch in the list and click Details. Verify—To verify the signature on a particular patch, highlight the patch in the list and click Verify. Export—To export a particular patch to a diskette, highlight the patch in the list and click Export. View Log—Click this button to display the Package Installation log. The log contains a list of all patches that have been installed.

Software Management: Import tab Entering information on the Import tab Loading a patch Loading and installing patches You will generally load patches onto the Sidewinder G2 via the network (via the FTP site). All patches are encrypted and digitally signed. You must have a current support license in order to decrypt and load a patch. Patches that are loaded onto the Sidewinder G2 are stored in the /var/spool/packages directory. Note: Loading a patch on the Sidewinder G2 is NOT the same as installing it. Loading a patch only makes that patch available for installation on the Sidewinder G2. To install a patch on the Sidewinder G2, see “Installing a patch” on page 3-45. To load a software package, select Firewall Administration -> Software Management, and select the Import tab. A window similar to the following appears. The Import tab is used to load a patch on the Sidewinder G2. You can load patches via the network (using Secure Computing’s FTP site), or using physical media that you create.
