Setting up and maintaining administrator accounts
To shut down the Sidewinder G2 without restarting, enter the
following command at a Sidewinder G2 command prompt:
shutdown -h time_in_minutes
Each Sidewinder G2 administrator must have an account created on
the system. When you installed your Sidewinder G2, you created an
initial administrator account by entering a login name and password.
This section describes how to set up and maintain Sidewinder G2
accounts for other administrators.
Note: Only administrators have accounts directly on the Sidewinder G2. People who use
Sidewinder G2 networking services have “user” (or network login) accounts, not
Sidewinder G2 administrator accounts. See “Creating users and user groups” on page 5-1
for information on creating non-administrative user accounts.
When you add an administrator account, you will also assign the new
administrator a role. The following table describes the available
administrator roles.
Table 3-1. Administrator roles
Role Authorized to:
admin Access all windows, menus, and commands within the
Admin Console.
Add and remove users and assign roles.
Do incremental back-ups and restore the system. (Full
back-ups and restores are done in the Administrative
kernel.)
Use all other system functions and commands.
adminro Read access to all windows, menus, and commands within
the Admin Console (including monitoring, reporting, and
auditing). This role is generally used as an auditor role.
Use the following process to add, edit, or delete administrator account
information or change role assignments.
Start the Admin Console and select Firewall Administration -> Firewall
Accounts. A window similar to the following appears.
