Checking network status Checking network status 17-22 Alarm Events and Responses finger To obtain information about local Sidewinder G2 users, type the following command at a Sidewinder G2 prompt. /usr/bin/finger When you use this command, you can find out the user names of people at your site, the exact terminal they are logged in on, when they last logged in, and how long they have been logged on. Using the commands described in the sections that follow, you can get "snapshots" of different aspects of your system. Active network connections To view the status of any active TCP or UDP connections on the Sidewinder G2, enter the following command: /usr/sbin/netstat -f inet Active connections/services To view the status of all sockets on the Sidewinder G2, enter the following command at a Sidewinder G2 command prompt: /usr/sbin/netstat -af inet
Network interfaces Checking network status To view the status of the Sidewinder G2’s network interfaces, enter the following command at a Sidewinder G2 command prompt: /usr/sbin/netstat -i -n Routing tables To view the status of the Sidewinder G2 Operational kernel’s available routes and their status, enter the following command at a Sidewinder G2 command prompt: /usr/sbin/netstat -r route get The route get command looks up the route for a destination, and displays the route in the window.
