Configuring HA 16-14 High Availability 6. In the Registration Key field, create the registration key for this HA cluster. The key must be at least one character long and may consist of alphanumeric characters, hyphens (-), and underscores (_). Important: You will need the registration key when you join the Sidewinder G2 to the HA cluster using the State Change Wizard. 7. Click Add to add the Sidewinder G2 to the HA cluster. You can now join the Sidewinder G2 to the HA cluster using the State Change Wizard. See “Joining a Sidewinder G2 to an existing HA cluster” on page 16-14. Joining a Sidewinder G2 to an existing HA cluster To join a Sidewinder G2 to an existing HA cluster, follow the steps below. Note: You must add a placeholder for the Sidewinder G2 in the HA cluster before you will be able to join the HA cluster. See “Adding a placeholder in the HA cluster” on page 16-13. 1. Connect to the Sidewinder G2 that will be joining the HA cluster using the Admin Console. 2. In the tool bar, click to launch the State Change Wizard. (You can also access the State Change Wizard by clicking on the Sidewinder G2 icon in the Admin Console tree and then clicking State Change Wizard.) The Welcome window appears. 3. Click Next. 4. Select Not Enterprise Managed and click Next. 5. Select HA Cluster and click Next. 6. Select Join Existing HA Cluster and click Next. 7. In the Gathering information to join cluster window, configure the following fields: Partner’s Heartbeat Burb IP Address—Enter the heartbeat IP address of the HA partner. Important: This is the actual heartbeat IP address for the HA partner, not the cluster common heartbeat IP address. Cluster Member Name—Enter the name of the Sidewinder G2 that you are joining to the HA cluster (the name you entered when you added this Sidewinder G2 to the HA cluster). Registration Key—Enter the registration key for the HA cluster (the key that you created when you added this Sidewinder G2 to the HA cluster in step 6 on page 16-14).
Configuring HA 8. Click Next. The State Change Summary window displays a list of the actions that will be performed when you click Execute. Important: The Sidewinder G2 will be rebooted after the transition process is complete. Carefully review the changes before you click Execute, as changes you make after initially executing the state change will require an additional reboot. If you want to make changes to your configuration before executing, click Back to navigate to the appropriate window(s) and make the necessary changes. When you are satisfied with the summary of changes, click Execute. A progress bar will appear while the configuration changes are made. If the transition is successful the Success window appears, displaying the new state. When the Sidewinder G2 is successfully joined to the HA cluster, it will reboot automatically. When the Sidewinder G2 reboots, it will be synchronized with the primary, and the HA cluster will appear in the Admin Console tree as a single Sidewinder G2 icon. See “Managing an HA cluster” on page 16-17 for information on managing your HA cluster. Enabling and disabling load sharing for an HA cluster If you have an HA cluster configured and want to enable or disable load sharing, follow the steps below. Note: For more information on load sharing HA, see “Load sharing HA” on page 16-3. 1. In the Admin Console, connect to the HA cluster and select High Availability. 2. Click on the plus sign (+)in front of the High Availability branch to display the individual icons for each Sidewinder G2 that is part of the HA cluster. 3. Select the primary icon. The Local Parameters tab appears. To determine which Sidewinder G2 is the primary, select High Availability, and then select the Common Parameters tab and click Cluster Status.
