Configuring HA Removing a secondary/ standby from an HA cluster 16-16 High Availability 4. In the Cluster Mode area, enable or disable load sharing by selecting the appropriate cluster mode as follows: Designate as part of a Load Sharing High Availability Cluster— Select this option if you want to enable load sharing for the HA cluster (both Sidewinder G2s actively process traffic). Designate as part of a Primary/Standby High Availability Cluster— Select this option if you want to disable load sharing HA and convert the HA cluster to a failover HA cluster (only one Sidewinder G2 processes traffic, with the other Sidewinder G2 acting as a hot backup). 5. Click the Save icon in the toolbar. 6. Wait 60 seconds to allow the Sidewinder G2s to synchronize, and then reboot each Sidewinder G2 that is part of the HA cluster. It is important that the second Sidewinder G2 be rebooted before the primary is finished rebooting. Important: If you do not begin the reboot process for the second Sidewinder G2 before the primary finishes rebooting, it will detect that the second Sidewinder G2 is configured for a different cluster mode, and the HA cluster will not function properly. If this happens, you will need to reboot each Sidewinder G2 to synchronize the HA cluster. Removing a Sidewinder G2 from an HA cluster To remove a secondary/standby from an HA cluster, follow the steps below. 1. Connect to the HA cluster and select High Availability in the Admin Console tree. The Common Parameters window appears. 2. In the Pair Members table, highlight the secondary/standby and then click Delete. When the Sidewinder G2 is removed from the HA cluster, it will automatically reboot and become a functioning stand-alone Sidewinder G2.
Removing the primary from an HA cluster Managing an HA cluster Managing an HA cluster You must remove the secondary/standby from the HA cluster before you can remove the primary from the HA cluster. Once you have removed the secondary/standby from an HA cluster, follow the steps below to remove the primary from the HA cluster: 1. Connect to the HA cluster. 2. Access the State Change Wizard by selecting the Sidewinder G2 icon in the Admin Console tree and then clicking State Change Wizard. The Welcome window appears. 3. Click Next. 4. Select Change To Standalone State, and then click Next. 5. The State Change Summary window appears listing the actions that will be performed when you click Execute. To remove the primary from the HA cluster and return it to the standalone state, click Execute. The Sidewinder G2 will automatically reboot. Once the Sidewinder G2 is rebooted, it will become a functioning standalone Sidewinder G2. Important: Once the Sidewinder G2 has finished rebooting, the IP address in the Admin Console Connection window will still display the cluster common IP address. Before connecting to the standalone Sidewinder G2, you will need to manually change the IP address back to the Sidewinder G2’s individual address. Note: To cancel the wizard without making any changes, click Cancel. Once you have configured an HA cluster, the HA cluster will be represented in the Admin Console tree by a single Sidewinder G2 icon. When you connect to the HA cluster, you will use the HA cluster common IP address that you created when you configured HA. This allows you to manage both Sidewinder G2s by connecting to the HA cluster. Important: If you connect directly to a single Sidewinder G2 outside of the HA cluster, changes you make to synchronized areas for that Sidewinder G2 will be overwritten by the HA cluster configuration. For information on when and how to connect directly to a single Sidewinder G2 that is part of an HA cluster, see “Connecting directly to a secondary/ standby” on page 16-29. Caution: If you modify your hardware interface configuration, HA will not function until the Sidewinder G2 is rebooted. High Availability 16-17
