5.9. Policy On Textbooks Purchased Through <strong>University</strong> Bookstore<br />

The following regulations apply to the ordering of books through the <strong>University</strong> bookstore:<br />

1) Allow time for delivery of required textbooks and to make substitutions when the<br />

textbook ordered is not available, the lists of books to be ordered shall be submitted to the<br />

Dean’s office along with the class schedule for the semester in which the books are to be<br />

used.<br />

2) Books are not to be ordered by individuals not associated with the bookstore. Regardless<br />

of the circumstances, books ordered by unauthorized individuals will be returned to the<br />

publishers and the individual placing the order will be charged for the cost of returning<br />

the books.<br />

3) Desk copies for instructors will not be provided by the bookstore nor provided for in<br />

departmental budgets.<br />

4) Unless advised otherwise by the dean or department chair, the bookstore will return all<br />

unsold books to the publisher thirty days after the close of registration. If a textbook is to<br />

be used the following semester, the bookstore should be advised prior to the expiration<br />

date of the 30-day period.<br />

5) Individual faculty members are prohibited from selling books and other publications or<br />

reproduced materials.<br />

5.10 Report Submitted to the Coordinating Board on Coursework.<br />

1) Each institutional governing board (TSU) is required to submit to the Coordinating Board<br />

its comprehensive rules, regulations and standards for interpretation of full and part-time<br />

instructional workload requirements, and for the range of acceptable assignments within<br />

its definition of faculty workload. These institutional rules must be included in the<br />

operating budget of the institution.<br />

2) The institution must indicate the means by which an academic unit assures that persons<br />

paid from faculty salaries work an appropriate percentage of time on instructional<br />

activities.<br />

5.11 Rental of Academic Regalia<br />

<strong>Faculty</strong> participants in the commencement convocations must wear the traditional academic<br />

costume. Teachers who wish to rent their costume will be provided with the proper forms for<br />

contracting a rental agreement well in advance of the commencement convocation itself. The<br />

<strong>University</strong> serves as an agent in the matter of rental of academic regalia, though the individual<br />

faculty member may make his own arrangement for academic costume. He must indicate this,<br />

however, at the time a general inquiry relating to the availability of academic costumes is<br />

circulated among faculty. Persons renting academic costumes through the offices of the<br />

<strong>University</strong> are expected to return this regalia immediately following the completion of its use,<br />

and to pay the rental fee.<br />
