some time, and largely due <strong>to</strong> paranoid and schizophrenic symp<strong>to</strong>ms, used different<br />

names when he was s<strong>to</strong>pped by the police.<br />

I met Mr A as I was assigned <strong>to</strong> support him at a meeting with his university about<br />

reintegration. Mr A arrived late, and said he was late as the devil was chasing him and<br />

the train had been delayed. Through the course of working <strong>to</strong> reintegrate Mr A <strong>to</strong><br />

university it became clear that at times he was very lucid and clear and at others he<br />

presented in a very concerning manner. We registered him with a general practitioner<br />

and arranged for him <strong>to</strong> be assessed as within a few weeks Mr A was evidencing<br />

symp<strong>to</strong>ms of psychosis.<br />

Mr A spoke of lights that were shining out of peoples shoulders. Mr A became<br />

increasingly paranoid and kept trying <strong>to</strong> ask me <strong>to</strong> “go somewhere” with him. I started<br />

working with him in pairs as the situation was risk assessed as being unsafe for lone<br />

working. Throughout this time Mr A was in communication with the university about his<br />

difficulties and eventually through our intervention received clinical help from a<br />

community mental health team and psychiatrist. Mr A still accessed Kids Company and<br />

continued <strong>to</strong> say he felt unwell. Over Christmas he was called by our 24 hour duty team<br />

as he was deemed high risk, and Mr A stated he felt <strong>to</strong>rmented and wanted <strong>to</strong> die as the<br />

gremlins were scratching his brain.<br />

Through the health services intervention and work with Mr A it then became clear that<br />

he had an unresolved immigration matter. Mr A provided details of his lawyer who when<br />

Kids Company obtained consent <strong>to</strong> speak <strong>to</strong> her stated that she was very vexed with Mr<br />

A as he had entered an application with inconsistent information. The legal process<br />

continued with Mr A continuing <strong>to</strong> be interviewed and submit evidence whilst being very<br />
