Definition:
Learners promoted refer to learners who have successfully completed a grade
in academic year t-1 and have passed to the next grade in the following
academic year t. In education systems where dropouts are not permitted or
negligible, data on promotees can be estimated by subtracting the number of
repeaters from the total enrolment for academic year t.

Definition:
Parent-teacher association (PTA) is a non-profit entity that consists of learners’
parents (or their legal guardians), teachers and other administrative school
staff. The aim of a PTA is usually to promote participation of parents (or
guardians) in school-level decision making and sponsor or facilitate fundraising
initiatives for supplemental educational materials.
