Sea Land Service Inc seeks permission to waive collection of a<br />

portion of the freight charges on eleven shipments of olives carried by<br />

Sea Land from Cadiz Spain to Jacksonville Florida The shipments<br />

weighed 213 950 kilos and moved under Sea Land bills of lading dated<br />

October 16 <strong>19</strong>75<br />

The rate applicable at the time of the shipments was 94 75 per 1 000<br />

kilos 2 with aggregate freight charges of 20 677 25 as per revised<br />

attachment 6 to the application Sea Land seeks to apply a rate of 8100<br />

per 1 000 kilos3 with an aggregate freight of 17 330 95 4 The application<br />

seeks to waive the collection of 2 999 72<br />

Prior to February 17 <strong>19</strong>75 Sea Land s rate on olives from Spanish<br />

ports including Cadiz to South Atlantic and Gulf ports including<br />

Jacksonville was 94 75 Effective that date Sea Land published a<br />

reduced rate of 81 00 to meet the competition of Lykes Bros Steamship<br />

Co Inc Lykes rate on olives was 1 450 00 per 20foot containers<br />

which at a loading of 18 tons per container works out to 80 55 per 1 000<br />

kilos 5 Sea Land s intention was to maintain the 8100 rate so long as<br />
