Cearbhall's daughter, Helgi being more closely connected<br />

with Dublin by marrying Aulaf's wife's sister. 1<br />

Thorgrim was another of Cearbhall's grandsons,<br />

his father Grimolf having married " Kormlod," or<br />

Gormflaith, Cearbhall's daughter. 3 His brother's son<br />

Alfus, with his uterine brother Onund, both settled<br />

in Iceland, 4 and his daughter having married his<br />

slave, or freedman, Steinraud, son of Maelpatric, an<br />

Irish noble, Steinraud also formed a settlement, to<br />

which he gave his name. 8<br />

Among the great grandsons of Cearbhall who Carroll's great<br />

settled in Iceland were Vilbald and Askel Hnokkan. settlers in ice-<br />

of Ossory, and was killed in the same battle with<br />
