north side of the channel and when<br />

below Ringsend as formerly pro-<br />
posed: are now raising stones at<br />
Olontarf (76.) 1 4th October, 1715:<br />
Are laying down a quantity of<br />
kishes on the north side which has<br />
made good the bank as far as<br />
opposite Mabbot's mill. The<br />
remainder will be completed next<br />
summer, (Ibid).<br />
4th Friday after<br />
Christmas, 1715 : It is the opinion<br />
of merchants that the south side of<br />
the channel below Ringsend should<br />
be filled in, which will raise the south<br />
bank so high as to be a great<br />
shelter to shipping in the harbour,<br />
(Ibid). Same day : Petition that<br />
the strand between that taken in<br />
by Mercer and that granted to Sir<br />
John Rogerson be taken in, being<br />
now overflowed : that a wall be<br />
built to the east : sand and rubbish<br />
would fix it: length of wall 606<br />
feet : Sir J. Rogerson would then<br />
be encouraged to take in his strand:<br />
Ordered that the work do proceed,<br />
and that the Ballast Office do back<br />
said wall (Ibid). 20th January,<br />
