A new edition <strong>of</strong> Lubomirski‟s Polish translation, first published in 1694 (see 1694/2),<br />
printed by J. L. Nicolai and dedicated by Laurer to the voivode Jakub Zygmunt<br />
Rybiński and his wife Helena Potocka. The dedication is dated 11 March 1722. With<br />
additional engraved frontispiece-title by Samuel Donnet (Thorunii, apud Johann<br />
Christian Laurer) and 6 engraved illustrations, 5 for the Pastor fido and one full-page<br />
plate for the Kawaler Polski, a translation <strong>of</strong> Jean de Préchac‟s Le beau Polonais,<br />
which follows. The pagination actually runs 1-360, 161-206, the Pastor fido<br />
occupying the first 334 pages <strong>of</strong> the text proper, pp. 335-340 being occupied by a<br />
synopsis <strong>of</strong> the play. The prelims contain principally, in addition to Laurer‟s 9-page<br />
dedicatory preface, a 5-page life <strong>of</strong> Guarini and, on the verso <strong>of</strong> the printed title, an<br />
elaborate engraved coat <strong>of</strong> arms <strong>of</strong> the dedicatees, accompanied by 2 enigmatic<br />
couplets alluding to the arms themselves.<br />
