MICO is able to provide the BDE with the critical<br />
intelligence needed to maintain situational awareness<br />
and understanding <strong>of</strong> the battlefield. However,<br />
if these assets are used without a clear understanding<br />
<strong>of</strong> their tasks and purpose, they will more <strong>of</strong>ten<br />
than not fail to achieve their full collection potential.<br />
The MICO’s integration into the BDE Staff and<br />
its ability to adequately providing accurate asset<br />
management and tracking for the BDE will alleviate<br />
these problems and ensure that the BDE will get the<br />
most out <strong>of</strong> its intelligence collectors.<br />
Major Marrero is currently the Task Force 4 (BSTB) Senior<br />
MICO Trainer/Mentor at the JRTC. He served as the Bravo<br />
Company Commander, 201 st MI Battalion, 470 th MI Brigade<br />
from March 2008 to June 2009. During the Battalion’s<br />
Operation Iraqi Freedom 07-08 deployment, he served as<br />
the Interrogation Control Element OIC at Camp Cropper,<br />
BIAP. His previous assignments include OIF (3), OEF (3), and<br />
Seoul, South Korea. His stateside assignments include Fort<br />
Benning, Georgia, Assistant Intelligence Officer, Joint Special<br />
Operations Task Force Intelligence Officer, 3 rd Battalion, 75 th<br />
Ranger Regiment, and Assistant Operations Officer, 201 st MI<br />
Battalion. He holds a BS in Psychology from Sam Houston<br />
State University, Huntsville, Texas.<br />
