13. Made a record number of long time awaited appointments and promotions of all categories of employees. Vacant positions of SC/ST backlog were also filled up. Absorbed the entire Krishi Gyan Kendra staff into the KVK system. In above process, 73 teachers were promoted to the rank of Assoc. Prof. and 55 of them got promoted to the rank of Professor. 14. Streamlined the implementation of Career Advancement Scheme for teachers. There were serious faults in its earlier implementation. 15. Got a record number of extra-mural lectures delivered by eminent scientists (15 in 2 years) for the benefit of faculty and students, for the first time in the university. 16. Started setting up of university museum. 17. The CSAUAT, Kanpur got accredited by the ICAR during my term as its Vice- Chancellor after a gap of 7 years. I made every effort to achieve the aim. 18. The university was awarded 2 NAIP projects worth several crore rupees by the ICAR during my term as the VC, CSAUAT, Kanpur. 19. One of the eminent scientists (Dr. R.K. Dixit) of the CSAUAT was awarded the prestigious Emeritus Scientists Scheme in 2007. Many reputed scientists/universities around the country failed to open their accounts. 20. The university had its convocation (Oct. 24, 2008) after a gap of 5 years. It was the best ever convocation in every way. 21. Got the Research Assistants elevated as Asstt. Professors/Scientists thus providing them their long awaited due. Strengthened the research centres by adjusting them against vacant posts. 22. Turned Research Advisory Committee (RAC) meetings a two day affair. It was resolved that the First day would be totally devoted to Farmers’- Scientists’ interaction and the actual technical plan of work would be decided the next day as per the feedback received from farmers. 23. Ensured speedy actions/compliance/disposal of letters marked by the VC, Secretariat to the various officers of the university. All concerned were asked to submit letter compliance reports by 5 th of every month. Above measure injected efficiency into the system. Separate record registers were maintained for ICAR/Govt./RTI letters, etc. 24. One OSD was especially assigned the duty of monitoring RTI work, correspondence with the Govt. and the I.C.A.R. 25. Got the College of Basic Sciences and Humanities sanctioned for the university. It was considered as a remarkable attainment in view of rising 26
27 importance of basic and strategic research. Also got <strong>University</strong> Cafetaria and International Students Hostels sanctioned. 26. In order to streamline submission/processing of projects under major programmes, appointed separate Nodal Offices/Scientist In-Charges for Food Security Mission, Horticulture Mission, Rajeev Gandhi Vikas Yojna (RKVY), etc. 27. Signed mutually beneficial MOUs’ with prestigious institutions such as IIPR, Kanpur, CIMAP, Lucknow, Jain Irrigation, Jalgaon, U.P. Remote Sensing Centre, Lucknow, etc. 28. Got a record number of competitive research projects submitted by the scientists to different agencies. During 2007-08 and 2008-09, about 11 and 23 new Adhoc research projects were sanctioned/financed respectively by various agencies. Under National Horticulture Mission, projects worth 2 crore rupees were got sanctioned. 29. New sale points were opened for supply of quality materials viz. flowers, flower bouquets, seeds, seedlings, cuttings, buds, saplings, horticultural plants and regenerated material, etc. 30. In order to upgrade competence and skills of employees, a Human Resource Development Centre was set up. It made a start by organizing 21-day training for those teachers who had crossed age bar. 31. A Technology Park with a vision to demonstrate the best basket of technologies related to agriculture and allied enterprises was set up. The CSAUAT is the pioneer in above area. 32. Annual assessment system covering all categories of employees was totally overhauled (developed new comprehensive proformae) and reviewed. Updated system was also enforced. 33. Students’ Instructional Farm Buildings were renovated, some buildings were also added. Its income was also enhanced substantially through various measures. 34. A number of initiatives were taken to enhance university income such as intercropping in orchards, sale of flowers/flower bouquets/fruits/ vegetables / flower/ forestry / medicinal and aromatic plants/saplings, dairy and dairy products, organic produce, vermicomposting, charging for various kinds of testing (soil, water, manures, fertilizers, products) especially in Central Instruments Laboratory by various clients. The
