In order to regularly update the competence and skills of all categories of employees, Human Resource Development Centre would be strengthened in a big way and trainings would be conducted round the year. 35. I would accord my specific attention to the so called less productive scientists, going critically into their specific problems and helping them with innovative solutions. 36. I would ensure submission of 2 research projects by a scientist at a given point of time. This practice would be made compulsory. Appreciation letters/certificates will be issued to all such scientists. 37. I would ensure an annual review of thrust areas of research in all fields using documents such as D.A.P., Survey Reports, etc. 38. <strong>University</strong> research policy would be updated / reviewed. While applied research would be encouraged, one of the objectives in every research proposal should pertain fundamental studies. There would be an absolute stress on development of very simple, convenient and cost-effective technologies for small/marginal and rainfed farmers. 39. A two-day file disposal system would be introduced and strictly enforced. 40. Scientists would be encouraged to attend conferences/trainings in India / abroad, encouraged to write books, prepare manuals, etc. 41. Top priority will be given to the generation of internal resources thereby enhancing university’s income. 42. Transparency in university administration would be made a firm policy of the university and the same would be meticulously implemented. 43. Efforts would be made to enhance the impact factor of the university journal of research. All relevant measures would be initiated. 51. Relevant press releases highlighting various achievements would be issued at least once a month. Its copies would also be sent to Raj Bhawan and the Government. 52. Relevant research reports / bulletins would be got prepared regularly and made available to all related departments especially the Extension Directorate / all libraries in the country. 53. All departments / KVK’s / Research Centrs will be asked to set up agricultural museums where they display their activities and significant achievements. 54. Every department / research centre would be required to have a mini crop / cafeteria / technology cafeteria / model farm. 55. Every effort would be made to streamline seed production programme and seed supply chain vis-à-vis stakeholders in order that seed replacement rates at the farmers’ level get enhanced. Take all relevant and innovative measurers to achieve the above aim. 56. RAWE programme would be further strengthened and experiential learning facilities expanded. Newer areas would be thrown open. 57. Students’ Counselling and Placement Sections would be vastly upgraded. 58. Greenery, Cleanliness and sensible parking would always be ensured in and around the university. While metallic/stone benches would be installed in parks/public areas, separate dust bins for dumping polythene and nonpolythene waste matter would be handy all over the campus. 59. Extension or dissemination of technical knowledge to the farmers is the most challenging mandate of an agril. university. Unless adoption rates are enhanced, research generated may be of limited use only. Unfortunately, best brains do not want to join the area due to different reasons. I shall try my level best to attract the best persons and retain the ones who are already there employing innovative approaches / giving suitable incentives. 60. I shall encourage and motivate good extension workers by instantly issuing appreciation letters / certificates. It would be done in an open manner so that others may emulate them.
