MODULE OBJECTIVES<br />

Core Modules<br />

Eng<strong>in</strong>e Service<br />

On completion <strong>of</strong> the module, students should be able to service<br />

and replace automotive eng<strong>in</strong>e components.<br />

Transmission Service<br />

On completion <strong>of</strong> the module, students should be able to service<br />

and replace automotive transmission components.<br />

Control Service<br />

On completion <strong>of</strong> the module, students should be able to service<br />

and replace automotive control system components.<br />

Autotronics<br />

On completion <strong>of</strong> the module, students should be able to <strong>in</strong>terpret,<br />

measure and troubleshoot electrical and electronic circuits and<br />

systems.<br />

Specialisaton Modules<br />

Diesel Eng<strong>in</strong>e Technology<br />

On completion <strong>of</strong> the module, students should be able to ma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong>,<br />

troubleshoot, service and repair cyl<strong>in</strong>der head, valve tra<strong>in</strong> mechanism,<br />

cyl<strong>in</strong>der block, piston and connect<strong>in</strong>g rod assembly, crankshaft and<br />

bear<strong>in</strong>g assembly, and air-condition<strong>in</strong>g system.<br />

Diesel Eng<strong>in</strong>e Management<br />

On completion <strong>of</strong> the module, students should be able to ma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong>,<br />

troubleshoot, service and repair diesel eng<strong>in</strong>e lubrication, cool<strong>in</strong>g, air<br />

<strong>in</strong>take, exhaust and diesel fuel <strong>in</strong>jection systems’ components.<br />

Control Technology (Heavy Vehicles)<br />

On completion <strong>of</strong> the module, students should be able to ma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong>,<br />

troubleshoot, service and repair components <strong>of</strong> the various control<br />

systems such as brak<strong>in</strong>g, suspension and steer<strong>in</strong>g system.<br />

Transmission Technology (Heavy Vehicles)<br />

On completion <strong>of</strong> the module, students should be able to ma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong>,<br />

troubleshoot, service and repair the power transmission components<br />

<strong>of</strong> heavy vehicles.<br />

Project<br />

On completion <strong>of</strong> the module, students should be able to plan and<br />

manage a project, and apply the skills and knowledge acquired <strong>in</strong><br />

the course <strong>of</strong> learn<strong>in</strong>g to solve practical problems.<br />

Life Skills Modules<br />

Life skills <strong>in</strong> broad terms are the foundation skills and personal<br />

qualities that an <strong>in</strong>dividual can transfer from one job sett<strong>in</strong>g to<br />

another to manage and adapt to changes <strong>in</strong> technology and work<br />

environments.<br />

Electives (Course Specific)<br />

Basic Electro-Pneumatics and Hydraulics<br />

On completion <strong>of</strong> the module, students should be able to assemble,<br />

perform fault diagnosis and rectification <strong>of</strong> basic electro-pneumatic<br />

and electro-hydraulic circuits used on heavy vehicles.<br />

Electronic-Controlled Diesel and Alternate Fuel Eng<strong>in</strong>es<br />

On completion <strong>of</strong> the module, students should be able to perform<br />

basic diagnostic work on electronic-controlled diesel and alternate<br />

fuel eng<strong>in</strong>es.<br />
