MODULE OBJECTIVES<br />
Core Modules<br />
Eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g Processes and Technology<br />
On completion <strong>of</strong> the module, students should be able to determ<strong>in</strong>e<br />
eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g requirements from technical bluepr<strong>in</strong>ts and mach<strong>in</strong>e<br />
components <strong>in</strong> accordance with given specifications.<br />
Integrated 3D CAD/CAM<br />
On completion <strong>of</strong> the module, students should be able to create 3D<br />
CAD model and, generate and verify CNC part programs us<strong>in</strong>g a<br />
CAD/CAM system for CNC lathes and CNC mill<strong>in</strong>g mach<strong>in</strong>es.<br />
CNC Technology<br />
On completion <strong>of</strong> the module, students should be able to set up<br />
and operate CNC lathes and CNC mill<strong>in</strong>g mach<strong>in</strong>es to produce<br />
components <strong>in</strong> accordance with given specifications.<br />
Product Plann<strong>in</strong>g and Development<br />
On completion <strong>of</strong> the module, students should be able to work<br />
<strong>in</strong> groups, plan and schedule a project, design digitalized models,<br />
manufacture the project <strong>in</strong> accordance with the requirements and<br />
document the project.<br />
CNC Sheetmetal Fabrication<br />
On completion <strong>of</strong> the module, students should be able to design the<br />
sheet-metal layout us<strong>in</strong>g Computer-Aided-Form<strong>in</strong>g system, set up<br />
and operate laser cutt<strong>in</strong>g and form<strong>in</strong>g mach<strong>in</strong>es to fabricate sheetmetal<br />
components <strong>in</strong> accordance with given specifications.<br />
Integrated Tool<strong>in</strong>g Assembly and <strong>Design</strong><br />
On completion <strong>of</strong> the module, students should be able to assemble<br />
and set up tool<strong>in</strong>gs, carry out functional and acceptance tests on<br />
stamp<strong>in</strong>g press, produce design documentation and replacements<br />
<strong>of</strong> die components.<br />
Semi-con Manufactur<strong>in</strong>g Project<br />
On completion <strong>of</strong> the module, students should be able to undertake<br />
projects <strong>in</strong> the manufactur<strong>in</strong>g <strong>of</strong> semiconductor tool<strong>in</strong>g, components<br />
and equipment.<br />
Industry Attachment<br />
On completion <strong>of</strong> the module, students should be able to acquire<br />
and apply a cluster <strong>of</strong> key technical, social and methodological<br />
competencies <strong>in</strong> their occupation.<br />
Life Skills Module<br />
Life skills <strong>in</strong> broad terms are the foundation skills and personal<br />
qualities that an <strong>in</strong>dividual can transfer from one job sett<strong>in</strong>g to<br />
another to manage and adapt to changes <strong>in</strong> technology and work<br />
environments.<br />

Assembly Skills<br />
On completion <strong>of</strong> the module, students should be able to select and<br />
use the correct hand tools for assemble and dismantle <strong>of</strong> mechanical<br />
components.<br />
Tool and Cutter Gr<strong>in</strong>d<strong>in</strong>g<br />
On completion <strong>of</strong> the module, students should be able to set up<br />
the tool and cutter gr<strong>in</strong>der to gr<strong>in</strong>d or recondition the blunt cutter<br />
accord<strong>in</strong>g to supplier specifications.<br />
High Speed Mach<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g<br />
On completion <strong>of</strong> the module, students should be able to expla<strong>in</strong> the<br />
applications <strong>of</strong> high speed mach<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g parameters affect<strong>in</strong>g<br />
efficient material removal.<br />

TIG Weld<strong>in</strong>g<br />
On completion <strong>of</strong> the module, students should be able to jo<strong>in</strong><br />
sheetmetal and rebuild metal us<strong>in</strong>g TIG weld<strong>in</strong>g process<br />
Small Bus<strong>in</strong>ess Management<br />
On completion <strong>of</strong> the module, students should be able to identify a<br />
significant bus<strong>in</strong>ess opportunity, prepare a promotional package and<br />
conduct a sales event for a small bus<strong>in</strong>ess.<br />

Technical Mathematics (PEG)<br />
On completion <strong>of</strong> the module, students should be able to understand<br />
mathematical pr<strong>in</strong>ciples and to apply knowledge <strong>of</strong> eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g<br />
mathematics to solve problems <strong>in</strong> a clear and logical way.<br />
