MODULE OBJECTIVES<br />

Core Modules<br />

Eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g Processes and Technology<br />

On completion <strong>of</strong> the module, students should be able to determ<strong>in</strong>e<br />

eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g requirements from technical bluepr<strong>in</strong>ts and mach<strong>in</strong>e<br />

components <strong>in</strong> accordance with given specifications.<br />

Integrated 3D CAD/CAM<br />

On completion <strong>of</strong> the module, students should be able to create 3D<br />

CAD models and, generate and verify CNC part programs us<strong>in</strong>g a<br />

CAD/CAM system for CNC lathes and CNC mill<strong>in</strong>g mach<strong>in</strong>es.<br />

CNC Technology<br />

On completion <strong>of</strong> the module, students should be able to set up<br />

and operate CNC lathes and CNC mill<strong>in</strong>g mach<strong>in</strong>es to produce<br />

components <strong>in</strong> accordance with given specifications.<br />

Product Plann<strong>in</strong>g and Development<br />

On completion <strong>of</strong> the module, students should be able to work<br />

<strong>in</strong> groups, plan and schedule a project, design digitalized models,<br />

manufacture the project <strong>in</strong> accordance with the requirements and<br />

document the project.<br />

Mach<strong>in</strong>e Assembly<br />

On completion <strong>of</strong> the module, students should be able to assemble<br />

and set up mach<strong>in</strong>e to carry out functional and acceptance tests,<br />

carry out modifications on mach<strong>in</strong>e components for assembly.<br />

Mach<strong>in</strong>e Build<strong>in</strong>g and <strong>Design</strong><br />

On completion <strong>of</strong> the module, students should be able to develop<br />

mechanical designs us<strong>in</strong>g CAD/CAM system to generate prototype<br />

models and conduct rout<strong>in</strong>e mach<strong>in</strong>e calibration.<br />

Mach<strong>in</strong>e Manufactur<strong>in</strong>g Project<br />

On completion <strong>of</strong> the module, students should be able to undertake<br />

projects <strong>in</strong> mach<strong>in</strong>e assembly and prototype modell<strong>in</strong>g.<br />

Industry Attachment<br />

On completion <strong>of</strong> the module, students should be able to acquire<br />

and apply a cluster <strong>of</strong> key technical, social and methodological<br />

competencies <strong>in</strong> their occupation.<br />

Life Skills Module<br />

Life skills <strong>in</strong> broad terms are the foundation skills and personal<br />

qualities that an <strong>in</strong>dividual can transfer from one job sett<strong>in</strong>g to<br />

another to manage and adapt to changes <strong>in</strong> technology and work<br />

environments.<br />

Electives (Course Specific)<br />

Assembly Skills<br />

On completion <strong>of</strong> the module, students should be able to select and<br />

use the correct hand tools for assembly and dismantle <strong>of</strong> mechanical<br />

components.<br />

Co-ord<strong>in</strong>ate Measur<strong>in</strong>g Techniques<br />

On completion <strong>of</strong> the module, students should be able to understand<br />

the fundamentals <strong>of</strong> co-ord<strong>in</strong>ate measur<strong>in</strong>g techniques. They will be<br />

able to operate and apply the application to perform mathematical<br />

alignment <strong>of</strong> various simple geometrical components and obta<strong>in</strong> the<br />

measured results as required.<br />

Tool and Cutter Gr<strong>in</strong>d<strong>in</strong>g<br />

On completion <strong>of</strong> the module, students should be able to set up the<br />

tool and cutter gr<strong>in</strong>der to gr<strong>in</strong>d or reconditioned the blunt cutter<br />

accord<strong>in</strong>g to supplier specifications.<br />

Hydraulics and Pneumatics<br />

On completion <strong>of</strong> the module, students should be able to connect<br />

simple hydraulic or pneumatic control circuits.<br />
