Turf Management and Ma<strong>in</strong>tenance<br />
On completion <strong>of</strong> the module, students should be able to<br />
supervise the <strong>in</strong>stallation and ma<strong>in</strong>tenance <strong>of</strong> subsoil dra<strong>in</strong>age<br />
and/or irrigation system; ma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong> golf courses, turf or sport turf<br />
such as mow<strong>in</strong>g, vertical cutt<strong>in</strong>g, fertiliz<strong>in</strong>g, topdress<strong>in</strong>g, aeration,<br />
roll<strong>in</strong>g and thatch control, pest and weed control, monitor turf<br />
health; repair damaged turf; manage and assess turf mach<strong>in</strong>ery<br />
and equipment; and perform a range <strong>of</strong> basic soil test<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> the<br />
field and <strong>in</strong> the lab.<br />
Landscap<strong>in</strong>g Management and Ma<strong>in</strong>tenance<br />
On completion <strong>of</strong> the module, students should be able to<br />
ma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong> s<strong>of</strong>tscapes and hardscapes; prepare and apply chemicals<br />
and fertilizers; supervise the <strong>in</strong>stallation <strong>of</strong> landscape structure<br />
and facilities; implementation <strong>of</strong> landscape works; and ma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong><br />
landscape equipment.<br />
Industry Attachment<br />
Students will undergo a 10-week On-the-job Tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g (OJT)<br />
programme via attachment and/or <strong>in</strong>dustry projects <strong>in</strong> landscape<br />
<strong>in</strong>dustry to re<strong>in</strong>force the skills and knowledge that they have<br />
learned <strong>in</strong> the <strong>in</strong>stitute<br />
Life Skills Modules<br />
Life skills <strong>in</strong> broad terms are the foundation skills and personal<br />
qualities that an <strong>in</strong>dividual can transfer from one job sett<strong>in</strong>g to<br />
another to manage and adapt to changes <strong>in</strong> technology and<br />
work environments.<br />
Electives (Course Specific)<br />
Heat Load and ETTV<br />
On completion <strong>of</strong> the module, students should be able to<br />
estimate the cool<strong>in</strong>g load requirement <strong>of</strong> an air-conditioned<br />
space, select equipment capacity required and the Envelope<br />
Thermal Transfer Values (ETTV) <strong>in</strong> accordance to the local Build<strong>in</strong>g<br />
codes requirements.<br />
Cleanroom Technology<br />
On completion <strong>of</strong> the module, students should be able to <strong>in</strong>terpret<br />
and ma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong> the air-condition<strong>in</strong>g system <strong>in</strong> the cleanroom<br />
accord<strong>in</strong>g to the specification. The tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g covers the skills<br />
and knowledge perta<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g to particle count<strong>in</strong>g, classification <strong>of</strong><br />
cleanroom, ma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g air-condition<strong>in</strong>g system, filter replac<strong>in</strong>g<br />
and <strong>in</strong>terpret<strong>in</strong>g the schematic draw<strong>in</strong>g.<br />
Energy Audit<br />
On completion <strong>of</strong> the module, students should be able to<br />
conduct on-site energy audit us<strong>in</strong>g the appropriate measur<strong>in</strong>g<br />
<strong>in</strong>struments and tools and recommend corrective measures for<br />
energy sav<strong>in</strong>gs.<br />
Safety Audit and Risk Assessment<br />
On completion <strong>of</strong> the module, students should be able to<br />
identify potential hazard at the workplace and implement control<br />
measures to ensure a safe work environment.<br />
Electives (Inter-discipl<strong>in</strong>ary)<br />
Workplace First Aid and CPR<br />
On completion <strong>of</strong> the module, students should be able to<br />
apply basic concepts and pr<strong>in</strong>ciples <strong>of</strong> first aid to render first<br />
aid treatment at the workplace and perform CPR dur<strong>in</strong>g an<br />
emergency.<br />
Bus<strong>in</strong>ess Etiquette and Groom<strong>in</strong>g<br />
On completion <strong>of</strong> the module, students should be able to observe<br />
proper groom<strong>in</strong>g techniques and apply bus<strong>in</strong>ess etiquette <strong>in</strong><br />
relat<strong>in</strong>g to people.<br />
Electives (Cross-level)<br />
Project Management<br />
On completion <strong>of</strong> the module, students should be able to use a<br />
s<strong>of</strong>tware application for plann<strong>in</strong>g and manag<strong>in</strong>g projects.<br />
Eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g Mathematics<br />
On completion <strong>of</strong> the module, students should be able to solve<br />
eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g problems <strong>in</strong>volv<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>dices, logarithms, algebra,<br />
graphs, trigonometry, complex numbers and basic statistics.<br />
Material Handl<strong>in</strong>g Equipment (Forkclift Operator Tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g)<br />
On completion <strong>of</strong> the module, students should be able to expla<strong>in</strong><br />
functional features and capability <strong>of</strong> a forklift truck, and safety<br />
operate the forkclift truck <strong>in</strong> a work environment.<br />
Electives (Jo<strong>in</strong>t ITE-Industry)<br />
Swimm<strong>in</strong>g Pool Ma<strong>in</strong>tenance<br />
On completion <strong>of</strong> the module, students should be able to carry<br />
out servic<strong>in</strong>g, ma<strong>in</strong>tenance, repairs on swimm<strong>in</strong>g pool filtration<br />
system, and its equipment <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g carry<strong>in</strong>g out water quality<br />
checks.<br />
Pest Management<br />
On completion <strong>of</strong> the module, students should be able to carry<br />
out pest <strong>in</strong>spection work, prepare work site for pest management,<br />
use pesticides and pest management equipment, prepares<br />
pesticides and supervise pest control operations performed by<br />
workers hired by the company. Upon completion <strong>of</strong> the course,<br />
students will be qualified to be licensed as technicians under the<br />
Control <strong>of</strong> Vectors and Pesticides Act 1998.<br />
