COURSE SYNOPSIS<br />
On completion <strong>of</strong> the course, students should be able to prepare<br />
work<strong>in</strong>g draw<strong>in</strong>gs and assist <strong>in</strong> the design <strong>of</strong> the follow<strong>in</strong>g build<strong>in</strong>g<br />
facility systems with application s<strong>of</strong>tware:<br />
• Air-condition<strong>in</strong>g and mechanical ventilation systems<br />
• Electrical <strong>in</strong>stallations and control systems<br />
• Fire protections and fight<strong>in</strong>g systems<br />
• Water supply and sanitary systems<br />
JOB OPPORTUNITIES<br />
<strong>Higher</strong> <strong>Nitec</strong> <strong>in</strong> Facility Systems <strong>Design</strong> graduates are employed by<br />
companies <strong>in</strong> the build<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>dustry. These <strong>in</strong>clude companies provid<strong>in</strong>g<br />
eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g consultancy services <strong>in</strong>volved <strong>in</strong> build<strong>in</strong>g services such<br />
as electrical <strong>in</strong>stallations, air-condition<strong>in</strong>g duct<strong>in</strong>g, fire protection,<br />
water supply and sanitary plumb<strong>in</strong>g. Some <strong>of</strong> the job titles held by<br />
graduates <strong>in</strong>clude Facility Systems CADD Specialist, Facility Systems<br />
Assistant <strong>Design</strong>er and Mechanical & Electrical Draughtsman. There<br />
are excellent opportunities for career advancement to supervisory<br />
positions and beyond. The challenge is for students to prepare<br />
themselves by upgrad<strong>in</strong>g their technical skills and knowledge by<br />
