Materials<br />
AutoStrada offers a range of<br />
exceptional materials and finishes,<br />
including premium grade hardwood<br />
veneers, Techwood, laminate, clear<br />
anodized aluminum, and<br />
architectural glass.<br />
Veneers are all hand selected to best<br />
showcase the beauty of natural grain.<br />
Every effort is made to ensure that<br />
<strong>Knoll</strong> veneers are the best that can<br />
be sourced in quality of color,<br />
consistency and size. Natural<br />
variations of wood are not considered<br />
to be defects. The natural process of<br />
color change in real wood products is<br />
part of the beauty and unique<br />
character of the material. <strong>Knoll</strong><br />
expects wood to patina over time.<br />
Techwood is a genuine wood veneer<br />
which has been enhanced by<br />
technology to provide color and grain<br />
consistency.<br />
High recycled content aluminum is<br />
used in the manufacture of aluminum<br />
components.<br />
High-pressure laminate surface<br />
materials have been selected for<br />
their durability and low<br />
maintenance.<br />
FSC (Forest Stewardship Council)<br />
certified materials are available by<br />
request.<br />
Construction details<br />
All AutoStrada worksurfaces are 1 1 /4<br />
thick and are a 3 ply solid<br />
construction. Worksurfaces are<br />
available in rectilinear and wedge<br />
shapes. The distinctive 3 /8 tapered<br />
edge can be specified on just the<br />
user side or also on the approach<br />
side. Worksurfaces can be specified<br />
‘‘full depth’’ with or without<br />
grommets, or with a 3 /8 cord drop<br />
along the back with a centered edge<br />
grommet.<br />
Worksurfaces appear to ‘‘float’’ 1<br />
above lower storage components.<br />
Pedestals and legs can support a<br />
worksurface height of 28 1 /4H<br />
(typically in open plan) or 29 5 /8 (in<br />
private offices). The higher<br />
worksurface height requires wood<br />
pedestals equipped with cabinet feet.<br />
Pedestals and overhead storage are<br />
available in either metal or wood<br />
case. Wood pedestals have full<br />
extension file drawer slides with<br />
bottom-loadable steel floor and 3/4<br />
extension slides all wood<br />
construction box drawers.<br />
Wood or laminate case cabinets with<br />
hinged doors and adjustable shelves<br />
require doors to be removed to adjust<br />
shelving; alternatively a special<br />
request 170° hinge package is<br />
available to retrofit cabinets in the<br />
field.<br />
Metal pedestals and Reuter overhead<br />
storage cabinets with flat front are<br />
durable steel construction with<br />
painted, laminate or veneer drawer<br />
fronts.<br />
Metal pedestals feature full width<br />
protruding aluminum pull. Metal<br />
pedestals have all full extension<br />
personal, data and file drawer slides.<br />
Wood cases incorporate 3 ply<br />
construction and components are<br />
finished on all sides. Core material is<br />
45lb density particleboard. Wood<br />
drawers feature dovetail joinery<br />
details. File drawers have steel floor<br />
and are bottom loadable. Wood<br />
drawers feature full width anodized<br />
aluminum recessed or protruding<br />
pull. File drawers include file bars to<br />
support letter or legal suspended<br />
filing in either direction.<br />
Freestanding private office cabinets<br />
are supported by cylindrical<br />
extruded aluminum feet which match<br />
an optional worksurface standoff<br />
detail.<br />
Spine, linkable screens, panels, legs<br />
and metal storage offer 1 or greater<br />
levelling capacity. Wood storage has<br />

/2 levelling.<br />
Cable management<br />
AutoStrada incorporates discreet and<br />
concealed wire management as well<br />
as four or six circuit power<br />
distribution in all four planning<br />
models, supporting low to very high<br />
technology requirements. Storage<br />
anchored surrounds, designed for<br />
raised floor environments, are the<br />
only planning type that does not have<br />
power distribution capability.<br />
Leg design<br />
AutoStrada support legs are a refined<br />
shape in clear anodized aluminum<br />
finish. Legs feature either lockable<br />
casters or a unique glide sleeve that<br />
allows leveling without exposed glide<br />
threads. A pair of straight legs or one<br />
9 wide leg can support one end of a<br />
worksurface when the other end is<br />
spine-supported, panel-supported or<br />
joined to a perpendicular<br />
worksurface with AT2TB brackets. If<br />
distance between support spans over<br />
48, additional support is required.<br />
Two pairs of straight legs may also be<br />
specified to create a freestanding<br />
table in combination with an<br />
AutoStrada worksurface not to<br />
exceed 72 x30 with a<br />
corresponding stiffener.<br />

Locks<br />
All pedestals and cabinets with<br />
drawers are supplied with a ganglock<br />
mechanism in place. In addition,<br />
cabinets 30 wide and over with<br />
drawers have an interlock anti-tip<br />
feature to prevent the opening of a<br />
second drawer when one is already<br />
open. Drawer fronts and door fronts<br />
where applicable are routed to<br />
receive the lock itself. Keying<br />
instructions for key alike must<br />
accompany all orders and are field<br />
installed. Products are shipped from<br />
the factory with random locks or lock<br />
plugs for key-alike orders.<br />
