NECESSARY EQUIPMENT Each school received several Follett #3800 Scanners and wireless Panther PHD scanners. If you need additional scanners, you may order from Follett Software Company. Call for a quote at 1-800-323- 3397 or go to http://www.folletsoftware.com. BARCODES Please do not order your own barcodes. The District orders barcode labels. Please call or email Library Media Services with your request for extra barcode labels. OBLIGATIONS Parents should be notified of student’s loss of District Textbooks. School Board Policy(6Gx53-4.0015) - Textbooks: Students in the Polk County school system shall be provided with textbooks and/or other adequate study aids in basic academic required subject courses (Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, and Science • Damaged Books: Responsibility for reimbursement for lost or damaged books is assumed by the student and his or her parents upon receipt of a textbook. • Policy Implementation: The implementation of this policy shall be the joint responsibility of the principal, teacher and parent. INVENTORY In order for our District to reap cost savings of the Textbook Manager program, a complete inventory of all textbooks must be conducted every year. The inventory must be completed by the third Wednesday in June. Steps to a Successful Inventory • In Back Office select > Inventory>Start New Inventory • Assign a name follow this naming configuration – School Abbreviation +Textbook Inventory + School Years (2011-12) • Make sure to include copies with barcodes • Under “Handling checked out copies” select “Check in currently checked out copies when scanned into inventory.” • Under Verify Copy Location select “Do nothing” Things to know One complete school inventory must be taken versus several classroom inventories. The District will verify that inventories have been completed after you send your form of completion to Curriculum and Instruction. After you have completed the inventory, always print out your "Unaccounted for" item report before FINALIZING each year. Select “Finalize” and then you will be prompted to mark unaccounted for copies "Lost." Then compare the reports each subsequent year to determine which items need to be deleted. This does not affect the student checkout record.
